On April 25, 2015 the country of Nepal experienced a terrible natural calamity. A 7.9 magnitude earthquake devastated a significant portion of the country. Over 6000 lives have been lost so far and more than 13,000 have been injured. The loss of property, including countless historic monuments and world heritage sites, is incalculable. We recognize and acknowledge the many heroic individuals and o
rganizations tirelessly working on the rescue and relief efforts, and are committed to both short and long term efforts to rebuild and restore the country. In the Dakshinkali Municipality we are currently working with local officials and community members to identify families who lack the resources to construct adequate temporary shelter. Our first priority is to supply materials for those who lack them to construct proper shelters. We have visited communities in Chaimalay, Utiki, and Phakhel, Makwanpur and are working with local authorities to identify those families and individuals who lack the resources and capacities to meet basic survival needs in these circumstances. Working with other individuals from Pharping, we have already begun distributing food and giving medical attention from a fully trained doctor.
