Planète Enfants & Développement - Nepal & India

Planète Enfants & Développement - Nepal & India Planète Enfants et Développement Nepal is one of the chapter of the french NGO Planète Enfants et Développement (PE&D) established in Nepal since 1997.

Planète Enfants & Développement is an apolitical and non-denominational international solidarity organization with projects dedicated to helping vulnerable children and women. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world as the development index shows: this country is ranked 145th on 188 countries. The earthquakes of 2015 didn’t improve this situation. Preschool teachers do not get any train

ing on teaching to young children and most of the public schools are not equipped for young children's needs. Women and girls are particularly subject to gender-based violence and at risk of child marriage and trafficking...1 girl out of 3 is married before she is 18 in Nepal. PE&D works with local partners for the respect of children’s and women’s rights, but also for their development et their empowerment, among others things by providing education and vocational trainings.

She walked into a new school, a new hostel, and an uncertain future. She walked out stronger than anyone expected. 💪
Bindu (name changed) is a grade 10 student from the Chepang community who has been living away from home since grade 6 — navigating new surroundings, new peers, and challenges.
With support from Chhori and the project "Bright Futures - Empowering Chepang Girls", things began to change. 🌱
✅ Life skills and personal development training
✅ Menstrual health and hygiene education
✅ Counseling and psychosocial support
✅ Tuition assistance to keep her education on track
Today, Bindu is not just surviving — she is one of the top students in her school. She has found her confidence, her voice, and her footing.
This is what change looks like when a girl is given a safe space and the right support. 🏠📚

🧵 Meet Ankita — 16, determined, and already turning waste into opportunity.
Growing up in Kendragoria village with her mother as the sole breadwinner, Ankita carries responsibilities far beyond her years. But instead of stepping back, she stepped forward — joining the GYVE programme to build skills that could change her future.
Today, she's learning tailoring. She's teaching her peers. And she's upcycling old jeans into shopping bags — proof that a green economy can start with a needle, thread, and a bold idea. 🌿

Teachers sharing. Teachers growing. 💡
ECD educators in Sahid Lakhan, Gorkha came together to exchange experiences, solve challenges, and spark new ideas for their classrooms. Because when teachers thrive, children thrive. 🏔️

🌿 Finding lightness through body & mind
As part of the project "Bright Futures, Empowering Chepang Girls", the girls took part in powerful psycho-education sessions focused on body awareness and stress release — and the impact was beautiful to witness.
Through movement and shaking exercises to release physical tension, reflective writing to name and acknowledge their emotions, and the symbolic act of burning those written thoughts, the participants found a meaningful way to let go.
Art-based activities rounded out the experience, giving them another channel to express what words sometimes can't.
The result? Girls who felt emotionally lighter, happier, and freed from the weight of negative thoughts and stress. 💛

🌍 We went Zero Waste — and it was a week to remember.

In the last week of March, all our training centres of the GYVE project celebrated International Zero Waste Day with events built around one powerful idea: Waste to Best.
♻ Innovation Challenge — Students designed and built functional or artistic creations using only recycled and discarded materials, with projects tied to their own trade or skill.
📣 Community Outreach Rally — Our students and staff took to the streets, engaging local residents and businesses on the importance of source segregation — separating dry and wet waste right at the point of disposal. They carried placards and, where possible, wore or displayed their own "Waste to Best" creations.

Waste isn't the end — it's the beginning. 💚

After over a year of empowering the Chepang Girls at the Gajuri hostel, our partner Chhori shares:

💬 "The engagement of the girls in every activity has grown so much! They actively participate, share their issues, and work together with our team to find solutions. The girls are more confident and empowered—they now feel comfortable saying ‘no’ if something doesn’t feel right or they don’t agree." ✨💪🌸
