Chaughada Progressive English School

Two new classrooms and an open air seating/classroom nearly complete. The school community with our French Uni volunteers have worked very hard in stifling heat over the past few weeks to get these constructions done. Thank you all very much for your time and effort.

Our school is expanding ...more classrooms ...a big thank you to the French students who are volunteering for a month at our school ...to the parents and teachers who are assisting with the construction.

A big thank you to Margaret and Dominic for their contribution in volunteering. We did a big pasta cook up for all the kids and teachers ...and in true Nepali fashion ...they ate with their fingers !!

Great Announcement by New Nepalese Government !!

No exams till class 5
In a major change for early education, traditional examinations have been abolished for students up to Class 5. Instead, their progress will be evaluated through alternative assessment methods, reducing academic pressure at a young age.

I have been arguing for ten years since we started the school against the tradition of all primary school kids from kindergarten to grade 5 having to sit exams four times a year.

Such an insane and idea.

Great to see this change.

For more than four decades, Ben and Lyn Covelli travelled regularly to the Himalayan nation, building deep ties with its people and communities.

Ben is heading off to the school in April our students desperately need more A4 exercise books ( they are still using pencils and paper in Nepal not laptops)....any amount would be greatly appreciated they can be dropped off at Funky Stuff 1651 Burwood Highway or in Eaglemont.

A BIG THANK YOU !!

A big thank you to Darcy and Emma Mills from Dilemma Designs for their generous donations of personalised name tags to each one of our students ( and teachers). They all absolutely loved them and it became the talk of the village with children not attending our school wishing they had. Again a big thank you to Darcy and Emma from Dilemma Designs.

A BIG thank you to those generous people that have donated to our stationery drive for our school in Nepal. The children's families lost everything in the 2015 earthquakes and our school provides free education to 80 primary school kids and we are so grateful for the great support we have received. The students will be so thrilled when these materials reach the school in two weeks time. We are still reviewing donations up until the 24th October. Thanks again !!!
