Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) in technical partnership with Peace Himalaya invites applications from qualified, dynamic, and self-motivated Nepalese citizens for the position of Livelihood Officer-Technical for ongoing livelihood projects in Rasuwa and Makwanpur districts.

Position Details
Position Title: Livelihood Officer-Technical
Number of Vacancies: (2 Positions)
Duty Station 1: Rasuwa District (1 Position)
Duty Station 2: Makwanpur District (1 Position)
Contract Type: Full-time / Project-based
Reports To: Program Coordinator / Project Manager

Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day field implementation of sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood initiatives in target project areas.
Form, revive, and facilitate capacity-building technical sessions and orientations for farmer groups and community members.
Coordinate local agricultural input distributions, technical guidance, and micro-enterprise development activities.
Conduct regular technical monitoring, soil health orientations, and routine field data collection.

Liaise closely with local government Wards, Municipal Agriculture Units, and community leaders to ensure project alignment and sustainability.

Qualifications & Competencies
Academic Qualification: Completed technical study as Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) in Agriculture Science from a recognized institution.
Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of working experience in the relevant field.
Mobility Requirement: Must have own two-wheeler with a valid driving license and be willing to travel across remote project areas.
Skills: Strong field facilitation, communication, reporting, and local stakeholder coordination skills.

“End child marriage and invest in girls’ rights.”

On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child 2026, Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN), in collaboration with nine civil society organizations and development partners, jointly organized an interaction program in Kathmandu on girls’ rights, ending child marriage, and digital safety, bringing together over 60 participants on 9 October,2026

During the discussion, child rights activist Tarak Dhital highlighted that child marriage remains prevalent in economically disadvantaged communities, with Madhesh Province recording the highest prevalence. He emphasized the need for timely intervention and stronger enforcement of existing laws.

Tilottam Paudel who chaired the program is a President of JCYCN and Children as Zones of Peace National Campaign (CZOP), stressed that child marriage, child labour, and child trafficking risks can increase during disasters and crises. He highlighted the gap between reported child marriage statistics and actual police registration, emphasizing greater accountability, stronger social protection, and investment in girls’ empowerment. He also shared the promising experience of the Girls’ Learning and Resource Center in Devchuli, Nawalpur and Girls Empowerment Program supported by Kanallan - Giving Right Now, advocating for similar centres across districts and local levels.

Other distinguished speakers and panellists shared their perspectives on protecting girls’ rights and ensuring their safety:

🔹 Ram Bahadur Chand, National Child Rights Council — highlighted government initiatives and collaboration among all three tiers of government to end child marriage.

🔹 Rewa Regmi, National Human Rights Commission — shared the Commission’s national inquiry on child marriage across all seven provinces.

🔹 Writu Bhatt rai, National Coalition for Girls’ Rights (NCGR) and National Action and Coordinating Group to End Violence Against Children (NACG) — emphasized the double discrimination faced by adolescent girls and the need for a dedicated mechanism to address their concerns.

🔹 Raju Ghimire, Voice of Children — highlighted the heightened risks of child marriage and online violence against girls during disasters and pandemics.

🔹 Dhital also warned about emerging digital threats, including AI-generated fake explicit images and fake social media accounts.

🔹 Irshad Ansari, Plan International, and Amrita Paudel, ECPAT Luxembourg — emphasized collective action to end child marriage and ensure girls’ continued education.

🔹 Bishnu Thapa, Just Rights for Children; Prakash Khatiwada, Girls Not Brides Nepal; Sunil Lama, One Love One World; Rajendra Chaulagain, Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN); and Jyoti Chaudhary — called for stronger local government accountability, effective implementation of existing laws, and integration of girls’ rights into child-friendly local governance.

Young participants also stressed the need for digital safety awareness, meaningful parent–child dialogue, legal clarity, and effective implementation of the National Strategy to End Child Marriage, 2082.

Our message is clear: Child marriage must not remain only in statistics. Every case requires action, every girl deserves protection, and every girl has the right to education, dignity, safety, and a future of her own choosing.

This International Day of the Girl Child, let us move beyond commitments and invest in meaningful action to end child marriage, eliminate harmful practices, strengthen digital safety, and ensure that every girl can thrive.
