BRANNGO Blast — Thank You, New Futures Nepal!

Under the chairmanship of Nick Hinton, President of BRANNGO, the Britain–Nepal NGO Network event was held on 19 November at the British Embassy in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Mr. Rob Fenn.

More than 15 British charity-funded organizations working in Nepal participated and shared the impact of their work across various sectors. Mrs. Pauline Seenan, on behalf of the Embassy, presented the British Development and Aid Programme in Nepal, highlighting its meaningful contributions.

Representing New Futures Nepal UK, Dilip Singh Rai attended the event on behalf of the Everest Mera Foundation, along with Nirmala Bhandari from the Nirmala Foundation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the respected Board of Trustees of New Futures Nepal UK for providing us with this great opportunity. Mr. Rai also shared New Futures Nepal’s remarkable support for the people of Mahakulung over the past 10 years — the home of Mt. Everest tourism’s seasonal workers.

Dilip Singh Rai Meets Philanthropist Andrew Small from New Futures Nepal, UK

Dilip Singh Rai, Chairperson of Everest Mera Foundation, had the honor of meeting Mr. Andrew Small, Chairman of New Futures Nepal UK, a philanthropist with a deep love for Nepal and its people. Over the decades, Mr. Small and his team have dedicated themselves to serving thousands of voiceless and underprivileged Nepalis, earning recognition as true sources of compassion and humanitarian inspiration.

During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in an in-depth discussion on the current educational situation and pressing needs of Mahakulung Rural Municipality. They also focused on a key initiative that provides scholarships to orphaned and underprivileged children working as child laborers in the Everest tourism industry.

Mr. Small further expressed his commitment to promoting the under-construction Mahakulung–Everest Trail (Upper Mundum Trail) through his extensive network, supporting both tourism and community development in the region.

On behalf of the people of Mahakulung, Dilip Singh Rai expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Small and his organization for decades of remarkable contributions in education, public awareness, and humanitarian service.

New Futures Nepal: Supporting Students in the Remote Southern Everest

We are pleased to share that our project to support students Chheskam Secondary School from low-income porter and farmer families in Chheskam, Mahakulung, one of the remotest areas of the Southern Mount Everest region, has been successfully completed.

With the generous financial support of New Futures Nepal UK, more than 811 students, from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 12, received warm tracksuits to protect them from the harsh winter. This support will enable students to study comfortably in a warmer environment and will encourage families to keep their children in school. It will also make it easier for students to participate in sports and outdoor activities throughout the year.

This project is not just about providing clothes; it is also about raising awareness among families about the importance of education and hygiene. It is expected to reduce dropout rates caused by poverty, protect students from winter-related illnesses, and provide financial relief to struggling parents.

Hundreds of parents from low-income Everest tourism porter and farming backgrounds have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this valuable support, which is bringing meaningful change to their children’s education and lives.

The distribution program was attended by Mr. KD Remnising Kulung, Administrative Officer of Mahakulung Rural Municipality; Mr. Bidhya Raj Kulung, Chairperson of the School Management Committee; Mr. Kishor Kulung, former Chairperson of the School Management Committee; and Mr. Durga Bahadur Rai, Ward Chairman of Ward-3, Mahakulung Rural Municipality. They all expressed their gratitude to New Futures Nepal UK for its long-standing support to the school family.

Mr. Dilip Singh Rai, Chairperson of Everest Mera Foundation, and Mr. Guru Prasad Rai, School Principal, both shared their heartfelt appreciation for New Futures Nepal’s continuous educational and humanitarian support, including its crucial assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.

All the parents, teachers, and students acknowledge that NFN’s support has significantly improved the quality of modern English-medium education in this school, as reflected in the consistently excellent results in both internal exams and the SEE exams each year.

🙏💛 Together, we are building hope for the future generation in the remote Himalayas.

Chheskam Secondary School Shines with Excellent SEE Results in 2081

Once again, Chheskam Secondary School has made us all proud by achieving excellent results in the SEE exams for the year 2081. The school recorded a remarkable pass rate of 89.33%, which is significantly higher than the national average of 61.81%. Out of 75 students, 67 have successfully passed the exam.

This great achievement is the result of the countinous support from NFN, the dedication and hard work of the teachers, the care and encouragement of parents, and above all, the determination and efforts of the students themselves.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NFN for their continuous support to the school.

Despite being located in a remote Himalayan region, Chheskam Secondary School continues to make impressive strides in delivering quality education to its students.

Congratulations to all the students, teachers, parents, and the entire school community on this great success!

Action Plan for 2025: Everest Mera Foundation

Everest Mera Foundation remains committed to its mission of supporting underprivileged and orphaned students in remote mountainous regions of Nepal. Our primary objectives for 2025 focus on improving the quality of education and ensuring students have access to essential resources that enable them to learn in a safe and comfortable environment. Most students in these areas come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with parents relying on Everest tourism, portering, and farming for their livelihoods. Given the harsh winter conditions, it is crucial to provide necessary materials to prevent students from suffering due to extreme cold.

In 2025, we plan to extend our support to one basic school and two secondary schools, collectively serving 1,253 students from playgroup to Class 12. Our goal is to address key challenges by providing essential school materials, winter clothing, sports equipment, and improved classroom infrastructure. Specifically, we will support Mahakulung Basic School with school bags, necessary computer equipment such as a desktop computer, a color printing machine, and winter jackets for teachers. For the newly established Dudhkoshi Secondary School, we aim to supply warm tracksuits, shoes, socks, and sports materials to ensure students can comfortably participate in school activities despite the cold. Additionally, we plan to help Chheskam Secondary School for student-friendly furniture to create a more conducive learning environment.

To achieve these goals, we will seek financial support from our respected partner organizations such as the Nepal English Education Foundation (NEEF), USA, Canada and New Futures Nepal (NFN), UK. Furthermore, we appeal to generous donors worldwide to invest in education in these remote areas.. By contributing to this initiative, donors will play a significant role in transforming the lives of children who aspire to a brighter future despite their challenging circumstances. Everest Mera Foundation remains dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to receive quality education and thrive.
