In the aftermath of the devastating floods, CAN continues to stand with flood-affected survivors with care, dignity and compassion.
As part of our ongoing response, “Mayako Chino” WASH Kits were distributed to support essential hygiene and sanitation needs because sometimes, a small kit carries something much bigger: a reminder that you are not forgotten, you are not alone, and people care.

विनाशकारी बाढीपछि परिवर्तनका लागि सहकार्य नेपालले बाढी प्रभावित परिवार तथा समुदायसँग राहत, माया, सम्मान र सहानुभूतिसहित निरन्तर साथ दिइरहेको छ। यसै क्रममा, आवश्यक सरसफाइ तथा स्वच्छताका सामग्री समेटिएका ‘मायाको चिनो’ WASH Kit बाढी प्रभावित समुदायमा वितरण गरिएको छ। यो सानो सहयोगसँगै ‘तपाईं एक्लो हुनुहुन्न, तपाईंलाई हामी सम्झिरहेका छौँ’ भन्ने सन्देश पनि हो।

Why “Junkiri”?
Junkiri means firefly - a tiny light that shines even in the darkness.

The Junkiri Campaign was named with this idea in mind: after the devastating floods of 26 August 2026, many children in Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading experienced loss, disruption and uncertainty. In the midst of that darkness, we wanted to create spaces that bring back a little light, comfort and hope into their lives.

Through Child-Friendly Spaces, children can learn, play, connect, express themselves and slowly regain a sense of normalcy.

Like a firefly, the light may seem small , but in darkness, even a little light matters.

Junkiri - for every child to learn, play and hope again. ✨

“जुनकीरी” नै किन?
जुनकीरी अर्थात् अँध्यारोमा पनि आफ्नै उज्यालोले चम्किने सानो किरा ।

जुनकीरी अभियानको नाम यही अर्थ र भावनाबाट प्रेरित छ। २०८३ साल भदौ १० गते आएको विनाशकारी बाढीपछि नुवाकोट, रसुवा र धादिङका धेरै बालबालिकाले क्षति, विस्थापन, अनिश्चितता र आफ्नो दैनिकीमा आएको ठूलो परिवर्तनको सामना गर्नुपर्‍यो। यस्तो कठिन परिस्थितिमा उनीहरूको जीवनमा केही उज्यालो, सहजता र आशा फर्काउने उद्देश्यले यो अभियान अघि बढाइएको हो।

बालमैत्री स्थल मार्फत बालबालिकाले सिक्न, खेल्न, एक–अर्कासँग जोडिन, आफ्ना भावना व्यक्त गर्न र बिस्तारै सामान्य दैनिकीमा फर्किन सुरक्षित वातावरण पाउँछन्।

जुनकीरीको उज्यालो सानो हुन्छ, तर अँध्यारोमा सानो उज्यालोले पनि ठूलो अर्थ राख्छ।

जुनकीरी - हरेक बालबालिकाले फेरि सिक्न, खेल्न र आशा गर्न सकून्। ✨

JUNKIRI | Bringing Back Light, One Child at a Time

After the devastating floods of 26 August 2026, children and families in Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading are rebuilding their lives.
Through the Junkiri Campaign, the Child Friendly Space in Nuwakot and Dhading are creating safe spaces where children can learn, play, connect and feel supported again. ❤️🌱
Because when disaster takes away so much, a safe space can help bring back a little light.
Junkiri ; for every child to learn, play and hope again.

A one-day orientation on child rights and child clubs was conducted for the office bearers and representatives of child clubs from secondary schools across Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality. A meaningful step towards strengthening children’s participation, leadership and awareness of their rights. 💛

The session created a meaningful space to reflect on understanding, listening to, and nurturing children with care and respect.
