In collaboration with the National Statistics Office, a provincial-level interaction program on “Social, Economic, and Educational Status of the Dalit Community in the Context of Provincial Policy and Program Formulation” was held in Pokhara, Gandaki Province, based on Census 2078 data.

The program was organized in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports of Gandaki Province, with financial support, and was chaired by Hon. Minister Rekha Thapa as the Chief Guest. The event brought together the Ministry Secretary, planning chiefs from various ministries, and representatives from government, civil society, and development partners, facilitating dialogue to ensure that the issues and concerns of Dalit and Dalit women are reflected in provincial policies and programs.

FEDO had also got an opportunity to meet Hon. Minister Govinda Bahadur Nepali at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management. The discussion focused on key policy concerns, alongside the formal handover of a publication analyzing Census 2078 data from the perspective of Dalit communities and Dalit women, developed in collaboration with the National Statistics Office.

Key demands on advancing the rights and inclusion of Dalit women and marginalized girls have been formally submitted to Hon. Minister Sita Badi at the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.

The recommendations call for inclusive budgeting in FY 2082/83, focusing on economic empowerment, access to services, protection from violence, citizenship rights, and meaningful participation in policy and decision-making.

A step forward in ensuring that the voices and priorities of Dalit women are reflected in national planning.

During a recent field monitoring visit to Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality and K.I. Singh Rural Municipality, FEDO observed encouraging progress with the support of Bread for the World -BftW. Women’s groups formed through the initiative are actively raising their voices, engaging with local governments, and taking on leadership roles. Skills training and seed funding have enabled small businesses, strengthening their economic independence.

FEDO together with the National Dalit Commission- Dalit NGO Federation,- Center for Dalit Women Nepal,- and Equity Society Nepal,- felicitated newly appointed Hon. Minister Ms. Sita Badi - Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, along with members of the House of Representatives from the Dalit community, recognizing their leadership and commitment as parliamentarians.

In parallel, consultations were held with members of the National Assembly, leading to the development of a concrete position paper to be submitted to the Government of Nepal. The paper calls for an official state apology and outlines reform-oriented measures aimed at advancing social justice, inclusive restoration, and historical reconciliation.
