On the occasion of Hiroshima Day, Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI), and Hiroshima University Scholars’ Alumni Nepal (HiUSAN), in collaboration with the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), organized a special event titled “Nuclear Science and Technology for Peace and Development” on 6th August 2025 at the IFA premises in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.
The program brought together high-level officials, diplomats, scientists, entrepreneurs, media representatives, and other distinguished participants to reflect on the significance of nuclear science for peaceful purposes, particularly in the context of Nepal. The event was chaired by Dr. Ranjan Prakash Shrestha, Chairperson of HiUSAN. Mr. Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, served as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Gyan B. Magar, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Guest of Honor. The highlight of the event was a video message from Prof. Dr. Shinji Kaneko of Hiroshima University, and keynote presentations by Dr. Jaya Kumar Gurung, Senior Research Scientist, NDRI, and Ambassador Prakash Kumar Suvedi, Executive Director of IFA.
Remarks were shared by key stakeholders reflecting their organizational expertise in the field of nuclear technology.
