🌸 अनुजा स्वास्थ्य: A Journey Concluded, A Mission Continued 🌸
Rotaract Club of KIST Medical College successfully conducted the fifth and final phase of our multi-phase school health awareness initiative, “अनुजा स्वास्थ्य,” at Palpa Awasiya Secondary School, Tansen, Palpa. This concluding session focused on promoting health equity, fostering dignity through education, and creating safe spaces for conversations around menstruation and menstrual hygiene.
The session engaged a total of 70 students, including 40 girls, providing an interactive and supportive environment where young learners could openly discuss important aspects of health and well-being.
Recognizing that many students from Grades 6 and 7 are only beginning to learn about adolescence, the session introduced menstruation in an age-appropriate, informative, and approachable manner. Students learned about what menstruation is, why it occurs, and why periods should be understood as a natural biological process rather than a source of stigma or embarrassment. Through open dialogue and interactive discussions, the session emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene, period safety, and period dignity, encouraging students to approach the topic with confidence, understanding, and respect.
To further support menstrual health awareness, a total of 100 sanitary pads were distributed among the students, reinforcing our message of “Period with Pride and Pads for Confidence.”
The session was facilitated by Rtr. Urja Chawal , Aarya Adhikari , Victoria Shrestha , Suhana Bista and Sudin Shrestha . A special thanks to Sweta Ghimire , Tej Budhathoki and Sachin Shah .
We extend our sincere gratitude to the administration of Tansen Awasiya Secondary School for their warm cooperation and support throughout the program. We are equally grateful to our dedicated team of medical students whose passion, empathy, and commitment helped create meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we visited.
A special thank you goes to our sanitary partner, Pro-ease , whose support made this initiative possible and enabled us to reach hundreds of students across Nepal.
As we conclude अनुजा स्वास्थ्य, we reflect with pride on a journey that reached five schools across five districts of Nepal. Each session brought us closer to our vision of making conversations around menstruation accessible, approachable, and free from stigma. By empowering young students with knowledge, confidence, and dignity, we hope to contribute to a future where no child feels ashamed to ask questions, seek support, or understand their own health.
While this chapter comes to an end, the message remains the same: every young person deserves access to accurate health education, and every period deserves to be met with pride, confidence, and dignity.
