On this World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate the power of collective action and community resilience. In the flood-prone Chaudhar River Basin of Kanchanpur District of Nepal, communities are taking proactive steps to reduce disaster risks. Through citizen science, low-cost hydrometeorological monitoring, and the system, local people are strengthening early warning and anticipatory action mechanisms to protect lives, livelihoods, and agriculture from increasing flood threats. On the occasion of International Youth Day 2026, a Cycling Rally was successfully organised in Kanchanpur in collaboration with the Utthanshil Youth Network, local youth clubs, and the SUDRIDH Project (Nnswa Kanchanpur/DCA Nepal ).

The rally highlighted the power of youth engagement, unity, and collective action in building a more resilient and prosperous society. Bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds, the event celebrated their shared aspirations for positive change and sustainable development.

As part of DCA Nepal's Pride Project, implemented by Federation of Sexual and Gender Minorities Nepal - FSGMN with support from European Union in Nepal, a journalist orientation programme was successfully conducted in Nepalgunj.

The session brought together media professionals to strengthen ethical, inclusive, and human rights-based reporting on + communities. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on the use of respectful and inclusive language, safeguarding privacy and confidentiality, getting informed consent before disclosing identities, and applying the “Do No Harm” principle in journalism.

In Dailekh and Surkhet, smallholder farmers under the Green Karnali Project are turning to nature itself for healthier harvests.
Using locally available plant leaves, animal urine, and dung, farmers are producing their own 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐨-𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬; known locally as Jholmol-1, Jholmol-2, and Jholmol-3.

These homemade solutions are helping farmers:
- Boost soil fertility naturally
- Control pests and diseases without chemicals
- Grow safer, organic food for their families and communities
- Reduce dependence on costly chemical inputs

Beyond the harvest, this practice is building climate resilience - helping farming systems in Karnali adapt to a changing climate while protecting the land for generations to come.
