Nepal, the great Himalaya, having altitudinal, climatic and topographic variation is rich in biodiversity. The country has diverse natural resources and rich in cultural heritage. Lacking strict conservation measures and awareness among the general mass of the people, the country has not been able to utilize these vast resources to the extent desired. Landslides, soil erosion, deforestation and fo
rest fires have caused the land to deteriorate; unmanaged water sources caused rivers to flood, depletion of biodiversity, and people to migrate into urban areas and elsewhere. Although Nepal is rich in water resources, but we still lack of safe drinking water. Thousands of people are gets victim of water related disease and even dies thousands every year. The public pressures in cities are enhancing threats and challenges along with water conflicts. Specifically surrounding natural forest of the dense cities is depredated and ground water level is decreased and occur drought. Forest products, water, soil are endangered and land use planning, unsymmetrical and their depredation from natural hazards and disasters. The poverty and the traditional shifting cultivation practices also have been leading the farmers towards the challenges of improving modern livelihoods, thus lot of use of chemical fertilizer use in agriculture area and loss of soil quality which is in the long term affecting the whole ecosystem and environmental integrity. This chemical fertilizer also defect the health problem where people are sick and new types of vulnerable disease appear. Thus, SEEM Nepal organization has established and start to work natural resources in Nepal mainly by focusing in environmental and ecosystem related issues.
