CARE Nepal Joint Partners Review & Reflection 2026: 2nd Edition!

Three days. One shared and safe space. CARE Nepal and partners came together to reflect, respond, and commit.

Guided by three principles. First, solidarity before strategy. We began with honest reflection on progress and challenges, ensuring every voice was heard before moving to solutions.

Second, navigating uncertainty together. We explored funding shifts, localization, resilience, and private sector engagement through collective sense-making. A Solidarity Map helped turn complex challenges into a shared picture of strengths and gaps.

Third, commitment with accountability. We closed by reviewing past commitments and co-creating a shared agenda with clear owners, timelines, and endorsed actions.

We ended with a simple truth: solidarity drives action.

Meet Chinta Devi from Laxmipur, Rautahat, a mother, a community leader, and a changemaker.

Chinta once had to lie to her husband just to attend a training. Today, through CARE Nepal's Sajag Samaj Project, she has found her voice, and is using it to protect her community.

After attending the Women's Leadership Development Training in Gaur, Chinta sat down with her husband and shared everything she had learned about violence against women and girls, disaster preparedness, and women's leadership. His response changed everything: " I will never stop you from attending the trainings."
Now, Chinta leads early flood warning dissemination through community miking, advocates for women's safety in relief distribution, and encourages other women to step up in their communities.

In her own words, “What began as a simple training became a turning point in my life, it strengthened my confidence, my voice, and my role as a community leader.”

When a girl gets a second chance, she rewrites her story!
Meet Sabitri, 11 years old, from Siraha district. Poverty and a family crisis forced her to drop out of school in Grade 3. With her mother unwell and her father working abroad, her dream of continuing her education slowly faded.
Then she found the UDAAN program.
Through learner-centered teaching, life-skills sessions, and a community that truly believed in her, Sabitri rediscovered her voice and her confidence. "Earlier I used to stay quiet, but now I can express my ideas and participate in discussions."
Today, Sabitri is ready to enroll in Grade 6, and dreams of becoming a nurse so she can serve her community.
When girls are given a second chance, they don't just return to school. They rise.
Together with -APEC, we are making sure more girls like Sabitri get that chance.

When water reaches a home, everything changes!
Sajan Devi Sadaya, a member of Milan Farmers Group in Nepal, used to spend hours every day just to collect water for her family. Today, thanks to CARE Nepal's Samrakshyan Project, clean drinking water flows close to her home and her life looks completely different. Less time fetching water means more time farming, caring for her family, and standing stronger in her community. Sajan Devi's story is not just one woman's story. It is the story of what happens when communities are put at the centre of change. Watch her tell it in her own words. 👇

A Journey of Transformation!

Asturni Tharu from Fattengar Tole, Baijnath Rural Municipality, Banke, once navigated motherhood with limited knowledge of nutrition, hygiene, and childcare while managing her household alone. Relying on traditional feeding practices, her family lacked a diverse and nutritious diet, and her eldest child missed out on essential nutrients during critical early development.

Through the Poshan Project, Asturni joined the Ram Janaki Health Mothers’ Group, where she gained practical knowledge on balanced diets, complementary feeding, and hygiene. She now applies these practices to both her children, ensuring timely and nutritious meals that support healthy growth. With this support, she also established a nutrition garden, improving her family’s access to fresh and healthy food.

Today, as the group’s treasurer, she shares her knowledge with others, helping promote better nutrition and care practices across her community. CARE Nepal's Poshan Project is being implemented by BEE-Group in Banke.

From shared effort to shared success!

In Amahi village, Lahan–18, Siraha, Samundra Kumari Mahato and fellow farmers are cultivating opportunity through mushroom farming. By carefully filling plastic bags with steamed and sterilized straw, they lay the foundation for a thriving mushroom enterprise.

As members of the 18-women Samyukta Mahila Farmers Group, they work collectively, sharing both responsibilities and profits. This cooperative approach not only strengthens their livelihoods but also builds confidence, solidarity, and financial independence among women in the community.

The mushroom enterprise has become a reliable income source, enabling members to better support their families while adopting sustainable and climate-resilient practices.

This activity is supported by CARE Nepal’s Samrakshyan Project, implemented in partnership with Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal (FECOFUN) and National Farmers' Group Federation Nepal (NFGF Nepal), promoting inclusive, community-led solutions for livelihood improvement and natural resource management.

A step towards sustainable livelihoods!

A community-based homestay established at Shree Koiralokhola CFUG is creating new opportunities by linking watershed conservation with eco-tourism. Built through strong community participation, the initiative has mobilized local skills and labor, prioritizing women and marginalized groups to ensure inclusion and ownership. “The homestay will offer quality food, accommodation, and cultural experiences to visitors,” shares Rudra Chaudhary, Chairperson of the Jungle Stay.

A total of 119 households will directly benefit, strengthening both incomes and community confidence. For members like Gita Chaudhary, the homestay brings hope and excitement for new opportunities ahead.

Blending conservation, culture, and community-led enterprise, this initiative, implemented under CARE Nepal's Samrakshyan Project in partnership with National Farmers' Group Federation Nepal (Nfgf Nepal) and Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal (FECOFUN), highlights how local action can drive inclusive and sustainable change.

From household chores to entrepreneurship, Punam Ram, from Siraha District, is shaping her own future.

Punam left school after Grade 8 due to financial hardship and spent her days helping with farming and household chores. Her journey changed after joining enterprise learning classes under CARE Nepal’s UDAAN program, where she gained entrepreneurship and life skills.

Recognizing the demand for surf detergent in her community, Punam started her own small business with seed funding and ongoing training support from the program. Today, she earns a steady monthly profit of NPR 6,000–7,000 (USD 45–53). This income helps her manage household expenses, save money, and support her brother’s education.

With encouragement from her family and regular group meetings, Punam has built strong business skills and confidence. Her story shows how the right support can help girls unlock opportunities and build independent futures. UDAAN, funded by Unser Vorarlberg, is being implemented by - APEC.

“I truly wanted to study.”

For many girls in Nepal, poverty and social barriers force them to leave school too soon. But their dreams do not end there.

Through CARE Nepal’s UDAAN program, out-of-school girls gain accelerated learning, life skills, and exposure to entrepreneurship that help them rebuild confidence and imagine new possibilities for their futures.

With supportive learning spaces and encouragement from their communities, these girls are reclaiming their right to education and discovering their potential.

🎥 Watch a short video here to hear the stories of two such girls, Anisha and Janaki, and see how UDAAN is helping them rise.
