World Day Against Child Labour 2026 | June 12

Every child deserves a childhood filled with education, play, safety, and opportunities to thrive. Yet, millions of children worldwide continue to be engaged in child labour, depriving them of their fundamental rights and limiting their future potential.

On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal (SAN) reaffirms its commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of every child. We believe that children belong in schools and playgrounds—not in workplaces.

Child labour is not only a violation of children's rights but also a barrier to sustainable development, quality education, and social justice. Ending child labour requires collective action from governments, employers, workers, civil society organizations, communities, and families.

🚫 Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults
On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour 2026, Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal (SAN) participated in a panel discussion on “The Situation of Child Labour: From Policy Formulation to Implementation.”
Organized by the National Child Protection Alliance (NCPA) Nepal and it's member organization including SAN, the event brought together children, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to discuss the current status of child labour in Nepal, gaps between policy and practice, and the actions needed to strengthen both policy frameworks and implementation mechanisms.
The discussion highlighted the importance of collective efforts to eliminate child labour, protect children's rights, and ensure decent work opportunities for adults. SAN remains committed to advocating for a child labour-free society where every child can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
