GTA, under a project supported by the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), has developed farmer-friendly Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for the project titled “Evaluating Biosecurity Measures and Farmer Behavioral Change Strategies to Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance and Climate Impacts in Poultry Farms in Bagmati Province, Nepal: A Cluster-Based Intervention Study.”

These IEC materials were designed, refined, and finalized in close coordination with the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) and poultry practitioners to ensure technical accuracy, contextual relevance, and practical applicability.

The materials will be disseminated to poultry farmers. They are specifically tailored to promote improved poultry biosecurity practices, enhance farmers’ understanding of the rational use of antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and raise awareness on impact of climate change on AMR and climate-smart poultry farming approaches. Additionally, the materials introduce the benefits of prebiotics, probiotics, and phytogenic alternatives in poultry farming.

Overall, these IEC materials aim to support the broader objectives of Nepal’s national AMR containment strategy while contributing to climate resilience poultry farming systems.

GTA successfully conducted an orientation for veterinarians to support the implementation of the project “Evaluating Biosecurity Measures and Farmer Behavioral Change Strategy to Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance and Climate Impacts in Poultry Farms in Bagmati Province, Nepal,” with financial and technical support from ICARS.

Held in March 2026, the orientation provided practical guidance and technical insights for veterinarians who will lead field-level interventions. The interactive sessions focused on strengthening implementation strategies to ensure effective project delivery.

Through this initiative, trained veterinarians will support interventions across 288 poultry farms in six districts of Bagmati Province, promoting improved biosecurity practices, rational antimicrobial use, and climate-resilient poultry farming.

“Together against AMR”

On 10 March 2026, we organized two awareness sessions for livestock farmers on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) at Shree Chunidevi Temple Hall, Chunikhel, Lalitpur.

A total of 37 livestock farmers participated in the program, including 16 participants in the first session and 21 participants in the second session. The sessions focused on improving knowledge about the proper use of antibiotics, the risks of antimicrobial resistance, and safe livestock management practices.

GTA continues to promote responsible antimicrobial use and strengthen community awareness to protect both animal and human health.

Celebrating the spirit of womanhood at GTA on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026.

This year, the women of GTA came together to mark the day in a fun and engaging way by following the popular “Passing the Phone” trend, where colleagues shared kind, inspiring, and light-hearted messages about one another before passing the phone along. The activity created a joyful space to appreciate each other’s strengths, contributions, and unique personalities.

Aligned with this year’s theme “Give to Gain” and the powerful slogan “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”, the celebration served as a reminder of the importance of solidarity, recognition, and collective action in advancing gender equality.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who actively participated and helped make the celebration lively and memorable.

Wishing everyone a Happy International Women’s Day 2026! Let us continue to uplift, support, and empower women and girls everywhere.
