We came together through the beautiful coincidence of finding like-minded souls, and we've built something real: a blend of diverse musical influences that hits deep and brings people together.
Our sound is rooted in South Asian tradition but never stays in one place. We're five musicians from the Bay Area - vocalists Rishta and Keyuri, lead singer and cajon player Prashant, and guitarists Bishal and Ribesh, who believe music should feel authentic, speak to where we came from, and create moments that matter. As you may already be aware, there was a devastating tragedy caused by floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, Nepal, on August 26. About 17,000 children are affected, at least 14 child deaths have been confirmed so far, and numbers are still rising as search operations continue. Eighteen schools have been completely destroyed and another 20 damaged. Around 10,000 school-age children now need support to keep learning, including psychosocial support for kids and teachers alike. Four health facilities are also badly damaged, and access is difficult because roads, bridges, and telecom networks have been wiped out.
With the death toll still rising, the tragedy is far from over. Children who have survived the floods now face heightened risks of disease, malnutrition, violence and exploitation. UNICEF is also working with the Government of Nepal to deliver emergency cash assistance to affected households, helping families meet urgent basic needs and avoid resorting to harmful coping strategies. Meanwhile, mental health and psychosocial support teams have been mobilized, and UNICEF is working to identify, register and reunite children missing or separated from their families.
The local governments have also been approaching and alerting shelter homes, including Ama Ghar, for possible accommodation of children affected by this disaster. Although there is no need for me to emphasize how important it is for us to extend our helping hand, I appeal to the Ama Foundation through you for generous support so that we can accommodate more children (roughly about 12 more children) in Ama Ghar.

Thank you to all of you who have called, texted and emailed about the horrible floods that swept through Nepal a couple of days ago. We are all in mourning, devastated and heartbroken - thinking of the victims, their families and the first responders. We are so grateful that our Ghar children and staff are safe and sound in Kathmandu Valley, far from the Nepal/Tibet border where this took place. We appreciate your love and concern, and thank you for always thinking of us, and whether you pray, meditate, or send good vibes - keep Nepal in your heart.
