𝐌𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝
"My name is Suryamaya, and I am a six-month pregnant woman from Gombochhet, Gosainkunda Rural Municipality–6. After the flood swept away my home and everything I owned, I am now living in a holding center in Uttargaya. At such a sensitive stage of my life, not having my own home or a safe roof over my head is my greatest pain.
So far, I have not experienced any serious health problems. However, living in the holding center is not easy. Staying here is not my choice but a necessity. While basic food and clothing are available, there is a lack of nutritious food that pregnant women need. As a result, I am getting by on whatever food is available.
More than my own health, I worry about the baby growing inside me. I constantly fear that not having enough nutritious food may affect my baby's health. Questions about where we will live after the baby is born, how I will raise my child, and what kind of future awaits us continue to trouble me.
I am grateful to the local government for providing relief support and health services. However, pregnant women need special nutritional support, safe shelter, and long-term rehabilitation assistance. The holding center has helped us get through the immediate crisis, but it is not a permanent solution.
Right now, what I want most is a safe future for my child. The flood took away my home, but my greatest wish is that it does not take away my child's future as well.
Key Message
📌 Disaster response should not be limited to rescue efforts and temporary shelter alone. The specific needs of pregnant women, new mothers, children, and other vulnerable groups must be identified and addressed through access to nutritious food, essential healthcare services, and regular care and support. It is crucial that disaster management and recovery programs prioritize the health, safety, and dignity of these groups to ensure their well-being and long-term recovery."

भाेटेकाेशी बाढी

“मेरो बच्चाको सुरक्षित भविष्यको चाहना”

म सूर्यमाया, गोसाइँकुण्ड गाउँपालिका–६, गोम्बोचेतकी ६ महिनाकी गर्भवती महिला हुँ। बाढीले मेरो घरबार सबै खोसेपछि अहिले म उत्तरगयाको होल्डिङ सेन्टरमा आश्रय लिएर बसेकी छु । जीवनको यस्तो संवेदनशील समयमा आफ्नै घर र सुरक्षित छानो नहुनु मेरो सबैभन्दा ठूलो पीडा हो ।

अहिलेसम्म मेरो स्वास्थ्यमा कुनै गम्भीर समस्या देखिएको छैन । तर, होल्डिङ सेन्टरको बसाइ सहज छैन । यहाँ बस्नु मेरो चाहना होइन, बाध्यता हो । साधारण खाना र कपडाको व्यवस्था त छ , तर गर्भवती महिलाका लागि आवश्यक पोषणयुक्त खानाको अभाव छ । त्यसैले उपलब्ध साधारण खाना खाएरै दिन बिताइरहेकी छु ।

मलाई आफ्नै स्वास्थ्यभन्दा बढी चिन्ता मेरो गर्भमा हुर्किरहेको बच्चाको छ। पर्याप्त पोषिलो खाना खान नपाउँदा बच्चाको स्वास्थ्यमा असर पर्छ कि भन्ने डर लागिरहन्छ । बच्चा जन्मिएपछि कहाँ बस्ने, कसरी हुर्काउने र उसको भविष्य कस्तो हुनेछ भन्ने प्रश्नहरूले मलाई बारम्बार पिरोलिरहन्छ।

स्थानीय सरकारले हामीलाई राहत र स्वास्थ्य सेवा दिएको छ, त्यसका लागि म आभारी छु । तर गर्भवती महिलाका लागि विशेष पोषण, सुरक्षित बसोबास र दीर्घकालीन पुनर्स्थापना आवश्यक छ । होल्डिङ सेन्टरले अहिलेको संकट त टारेको छ, तर यो हाम्रो स्थायी समाधान होइन । मलाई अहिले आफ्नो बच्चाका लागि सुरक्षित भविष्य चाहिएको छ । बाढीले मेरो घर खोस्यो, अब मेरो बच्चाको भविष्य पनि असुरक्षित नहोस् भन्ने मेरो सबैभन्दा ठूलो चाहना हो ।

📌विपद्पछिको राहत केवल उद्धार र अस्थायी आश्रयमा मात्र सीमित हुनुहुँदैन। गर्भवती महिला, सुत्केरी आमा, बालबालिका तथा अन्य संवेदनशील समूहका विशेष आवश्यकता पहिचान गरी उनीहरूका लागि पोषणयुक्त खानेकुरा, आवश्यक स्वास्थ्य सेवा र नियमित हेरचाहको व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित गर्नुपर्छ। विपद् व्यवस्थापन तथा पुनर्स्थापनाका कार्यक्रमहरूमा यी समूहहरूको स्वास्थ्य, सुरक्षा र सम्मानजनक जीवनयापनलाई प्राथमिकता दिनु अत्यन्त आवश्यक छ।
