Remembering the voices that refused to be silent.

Today, we remember the Gen Z martyrs who stood up for what they believed in, demanded to be heard, and dared to imagine a better Nepal.

Their voices remind us that the freedom to speak, question, dissent, and demand change is never something to take for granted. Their courage came from a belief that the future belongs to those who are willing to shape it.

For us, remembering them also means carrying forward that courage; in our communities, in our movements, and in our fight for climate justice.

Because climate justice is also about justice between generations: the right of young people to inherit a safe, liveable, and equitable future, and the right to have a meaningful voice in decisions that shape it.

We remember their lives.
We honour their courage.
And we carry their voices forward.

May their courage continue to inspire a generation that refuses to be silent.

PANEL DISCUSSION | FLASH FLOODS IN NEPAL
As Nepal continues to face increasing climate-related risks and devastating flash floods, it is crucial to move beyond responding to disasters and start addressing the deeper questions of climate change, risk, accountability, and climate justice.
We are pleased to share that Aakriti Dotel, National Network Coordinator of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), will be speaking as a panelist in the upcoming discussion:
“Flash Floods in Nepal: Climate Change, Risk and Accountability”
The discussion will bring together perspectives from law, environmental science, and civil engineering to explore the realities of climate-induced disasters, responsibilities of different actors, and pathways toward a more just, accountable, and climate-resilient Nepal.

The Rasuwa flood brought devastating loss, destruction, and uncertainty. In moments like these, constantly witnessing tragic images and news can also leave many of us experiencing climate anxiety: a feeling of fear, helplessness, and uncertainty about disasters and our changing climate.

But amid the grief, there are also stories that remind us of the power of humanity.

Stories of communities standing together, young people stepping up, volunteers working tirelessly, and people extending support in whatever ways they can.

Acknowledging these moments does not take away from the tragedy. Instead, they remind us that alongside loss, there is solidarity; alongside fear, there is action; and alongside climate anxiety, there can also be hope and collective strength.

Let’s take a look at some of the better side of the news.
