Hon. Representatives on Advancing CEDAW General Recommendation No. 39

During the interaction programme on CEDAW General Recommendation No. 39, Hon. Dr. Sujata Tamang, Hon. Suresh Kumar Ale Magar, Hon. Prem Bahadur Bayak, and Hon. Subodh Singh Tharu, Acting Chairperson of the Tharu Commission, underscored the importance of strengthening inclusive and rights-based lawmaking through meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
The speakers emphasized the need to adopt an intersectional approach in policy and legislative processes, ensure the effective implementation of recommendations made by constitutional commissions, and hold the State accountable for fulfilling its obligations. They also highlighted the importance of increasing the participation and representation of Indigenous women and other marginalized groups in decision-making processes.
