Happy Home was founded in 2006 by a small group of Nepalis in order to improve the living standards of underprivileged children in Nepal. Located in Lalitpur, in the Kathmandu Valley, the main aim of Happy Home is to provide shelter, food, clothing, healthcare and education for underpriviledged children. Happy Home now supports over 60 children aged from 3 to 16 years old. Children are catered for
in a hostel, which is a short walk from the Happy Home School, established in 2011. The project relies on funds from donors and international sponsors. Maintaining an active volunteer programme is also essential in order to provide support for the day to day running of the organisation. Happy Home is registered with the Government of Nepal (Registration No. 759) as a non-government organization. It is also duly affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (Registration No. 19754), the governing and monitoring body for all social organizations working in Nepal.
