In the aftermath of the devastating floods, access to safe water and basic hygiene has become an urgent need for affected and displaced families.

W**e To Water Nepal’s first phase of flood relief response is ongoing in Nuwakot, in coordination with the Nepal Red Cross Society, Nuwakot Chapter, reaching communities across 10 locations and holding centers.

-75 DROP Filters installed/distributed
-410 Hygiene Kits distributed
-9 holding centers supported
-110 Hygiene Kits handed over to Nepal Red Cross Society, Nuwakot Chapter for further distribution to affected families.

We are continuing to support affected and displaced families with safe drinking water and essential hygiene supplies during this difficult time.

We stand in solidarity with all those affected by the devastating flash flood in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and surrounding areas. As communities face the loss of loved ones, homes, and critical infrastructure, our thoughts are with the children, young people, families, and communities confronting uncertainty and loss.

W**e to Water Nepal is preparing to support displaced families in IDP camps and is in close communication with the Rural Municipality government and partner organizations to ensure a coordinated, needs-based response.

We remain committed to working alongside government, partners, and communities to respond where support is most needed and to upholding the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of everyone affected.

A glimpse of the Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session conducted by one of our interns for Grade 6 and 7 students at Ksh*tiz Awasiya Secondary School, Lalitpur.

Through interactive discussions, students learned about menstrual health, healthy hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking myths and stigma, along with the distribution of Khushi Reusable Pads to support safe, sustainable, and dignified menstrual hygiene.

From carrying muddy water to turning on a tap at home. 💧

Sukmaya Gurung, a beneficiary of the Simle Ghurleswara Drinking Water Supply Scheme, once collected muddy water from a nearby stream, stored it in drums, and used it sparingly. Limited access to water made using the toilet, maintaining personal hygiene, and managing menstrual hygiene a daily challenge, while women and children remained at risk of waterborne diseases.

Today, all 27 households of the community have access to 24 hour safe drinking water through the One House, One Tap approach.

Now we have enough water for drinking, cooking, using the toilet, and maintaining our hygiene. We no longer worry about the quality or availability of water. This newly constructed household tap represents more than access to water, it represents improved health, dignity, and opportunity.

With safe water now available right in their yard, daily household chores are easier, hygiene is improved, and the time once spent fetching water can now be invested in family, education, and livelihood.

Highlights from the recent monitoring visit and public hearing at the scheme, in the presence of our Senior International Program Director and Country Director.

Their visit provided an opportunity to review progress, engage with stakeholders, and strengthen our commitment to ensure safe and clean drinking water.

These visits are more than routine check-ins, they are opportunities to listen, learn, and ensure transparency while empowering communities to take ownership of their water systems. Together, we continue building reliable access to safe water and healthier futures for all.

Bringing Safe Water Closer to Communities

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving access to clean and safe drinking water, we have successfully distributed and implemented 190+ DROP Filters across 8 water schemes in Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

This initiative marks our transition from centralized chlorination systems to point-of-use DROP Filters, providing households with a simple, effective, and sustainable way to treat drinking water at home. By ensuring safe water at the point of use, these filters help reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and promote healthier communities.

Every filter installed is a step toward a future where every family has reliable access to safe drinking water. Together, we continue creating lasting impact through sustainable WASH solutions and community-centered approaches.
