Continuing Support for Learning Continuity Following Flash Floods

With support from UNICEF Nepal, Seto Gurans NCDS: सेतो गुराँस राष्ट्रिय बाल विकास सेवा yesterday oriented an additional 10 volunteers who will support children affected by the recent flash floods. Following the orientation, the volunteers are now on their way to Dhading and Nuwakot, where they will support Temporary Learning Centres (TLCs) and help create safe, supportive spaces for children to continue learning.

Some of the volunteers will also facilitate learning activities in schools in Kathmandu where children affected by the flash floods are currently studying, helping ensure that their education and well-being continue despite the disruption caused by the disaster.

This is part of our continued effort to support learning continuity, safety and well-being of children during the emergency response. We sincerely appreciate UNICEF Nepal for its continued support and the dedicated volunteers for their commitment to reaching and supporting children during this difficult time.

As part of the “Improvement of Basic Education at Community Schools through ECED” project, Seto Gurans National Child Development Services, in collaboration with Shanti Volunteer Association Nepal, recently conducted Parenting Education Orientation sessions at Chandidevi Basic School and Udayakhark Secondary School, Godawari Municipality.

The sessions explored the importance of parenting education and early childhood development through play, practical activities, interaction and hands-on learning. About 77 participants joined the two sessions, strengthening the connection between home, school and children's early learning and development. Because every child deserves a supportive, caring and stimulating environment to grow, learn and thrive.

Supporting Learning Continuity Following Flash Floods

With support from UNICEF Nepal, SGNCDS today oriented 10 volunteers who will be deployed to Nuwakot and Dhading to support Temporary Learning Centres (TLCs) for children affected by the recent flash floods.

The volunteers will help create safe and supportive learning environments, enabling children to continue learning and regain a sense of routine during this difficult period.

Additional volunteers will soon be deployed to Rasuwa.

We sincerely appreciate UNICEF Nepal and the dedicated volunteers for supporting children’s learning continuity and well-being in the aftermath of the flash floods.

Call for ECD Volunteers – Emergency Response in Flash Flood-Affected Areas

Seto Gurans National Child Development Services, in coordination and support with UNICEF Nepal, is preparing a roster of trained ECD volunteers to support children affected by the recent flash floods in Rasuwa and other affected areas, including Temporary Learning Centres (TLCs), Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS), and holding centres in Kathmandu. Selected volunteers will support child development, play-based learning, child-friendly activities and engagement of young children, alongside local teachers/facilitators.

This is a paid volunteer opportunity with a minimum stipend. Mobilization will depend on the needs of the emergency response. If you are trained/experienced in ECD and are willing and available to contribute, please complete this short form.

Seto Gurans National Child Development Services with support from UNICEF Nepal continues to expand its support for Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS), strengthening teachers' capacity to create quality, child-centred learning environments.

With generous support from UNICEF Nepal, apart from strengthening the community schoolteachers, we have recently facilitated a series of ELDS capacity-building initiatives for institutional schoolteachers, reaching 136+ teachers through intensive 10-day trainings and 129+ teachers and educators through one-day orientation sessions.

Most recently, a 10-day ELDS training, organized in coordination with APEN Godawari, was successfully concluded with the participation of 24 teachers. The training focused on strengthening teachers' understanding and practical application of ELDS to support children's holistic development and school readiness.

We remain committed to strengthening the capacity of teachers and educators across Nepal and promoting quality, play-based and developmentally appropriate early learning for every child.
