Beginning as a volunteer group
Nepal Rises is one of the first volunteer group formed as coordinating platform of relief efforts after the earthquake. People who came together as individuals who wanted to help people in crisis worked as a coordinated group at that time in Chakupat, Patan Dhoka. The p
lace had 24 hours running internet and electricity with the help of the staffs of Smart Paani and Rooster Logic, Nepal Entrepreneurs Hub which made it an ideal place to gather. Within 15 days, more than 400 national and international volunteers from were working with affiliation and support of the group who were contacted in each step of relief as a monitoring mechanism. Nepal Rises used various technologies to do so as volunteers were related to different fields with various capabilities. Nepal Rises then studied and identified needs through various channels and network, especially from local people. According to those, supplies of medicines, water purification, tarpaulin, food and sanitation materials were distributed in the most affected areas. As an organization:
On May 30th 2015, Nepal Rises was officially registered as a non-profit organization. It was done to work in an institutionalized way and to have better transparency during the recovery and rehabilitation phase. Though people came out to help without any idea or knowledge of disaster management, they later became a group of visionaries who not only thought of immediate help, but a long term plans to solve problems that would arise as an aftermath for years to come. Nepal Rises has been proving everything with GPS coordinates tracking, documentation and data. Mission: To improve the quality of education, health and environment for students and: communities in Nepal by connecting people with organizations and using innovative solutions for sustainable change. Vision: A more developed nation that values sustainable living enabled by informed and educated citizen together with a stable democracy.
