Chandra Gurung Conservation Foundation - CGCF An organization, created in memory of Dr. Chandra Prasad Gurung, focused on People-Oriented Biodiversity Conservation (POBC) Shikha Gurung Khetan

Established in 2007 by a group of individuals, mentored by Dr. Gurung, the Chandra Gurung Conservation Foundation has focused on inspiring a new generation of conservation leaders - after the September 23, 2006 tragedy that cost Nepal and the world of dedicated conservationists. Dr. Gurung himself was a pioneer of People-Oriented Biodiversity Conservation (POBC), initiated through the Annapurna Co

CGCF Mentorship Program-2026

Are you an undergraduate/masters (ongoing) student curious about people-based conservation, eco-tourism and sustainable development, and want to make an impact in your community?

The Chandra Gurung Conservation Foundation (CGCF) invites you to apply for its flagship Mentorship Program 2026, designed to nurture future leaders in People-Oriented Biodiversity Conservation (POBC).

This six-month mentorship program offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, engage in meaningful discussions, and gain exposure to diverse fields including climate change, protected area management, wildlife management, GEDSI and sustainable development.

🌱 Why Apply?
• Learn directly from experts across multiple disciplines
• Develop practical knowledge and real-world perspectives
• Connect with a network of passionate, like-minded individuals and organizations
• Contribute to community-based conservation efforts in Nepal

📌 Application Requirements
• Cover letter describing your motivation for applying the program and how it aligns with your future aspirations
• Updated CV (maximum 2 pages)

✅ Eligibility
• Open to individuals [undergraduate/masters (ongoing)]
• Strong interest in biodiversity conservation, traditional/indigenous knowledge system, eco-tourism, climate change or sustainable development
• Should possess volunteering spirit
• Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and grow
Commitments
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Full participation in mentorship sessions and activities
• Submission of a final project/report
