NAAMII Concludes WHO SEARO Consultation on Global Strategy on Digital Health

NAAMII successfully convened the WHO South-East Asia Region (SEARO) Multi-Stakeholder Consultation Webinar on March 31st, bringing together the experience of 80+ diverse stakeholders across countries and institutions to contribute to shaping the next Global Strategy on Digital Health (2028–2033).

The consultation surfaced key gaps and implementation challenges from the previous Global Health Strategy (2020-2027) and translated them into actionable priorities for building equitable and interoperable digital health systems.

Key focus areas included:

- Governance, leadership, and equity
- Digital public infrastructure (DPI), interoperability, and data systems
- Workforce capacity and competencies
- Sustainable financing, partnerships, and ecosystem enablement

The insights generated through breakout dialogues will now feed into WHO’s global strategy process and inform a consolidated regional synthesis report.

We thank all participants for their valuable contributions, and acknowledge the leadership of Dr. Bishesh Khanal, Dr. Karthik Adapa, Paban Ghimire, Sonam Yangchen, and Dr. Kiran Raj Pandey, and World Health Organization South-East Asia team. Special thanks to Ranjana Koirala for leading the organization and ex*****on of the consultation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the NAAMII Open House last week!

Last Friday’s session was especially enriched by Anju Chhetri and Saurabh Koju from the B. Bhattarai Multimodal Lab, who traced their journeys into research: from early beginnings at NAAMII to publishing papers and participating in workshops at conferences like MICCAI.

Special thanks to Sameer Dangol and Shubham Thapa from NAAMII, and Justin Flores from Himalogic for adding to the shared energy, Tripti Sharma and Mubina Kc for coordinating, and to our venue partner, Alliance Française de Katmandou for hosting.

If you attended too, what stuck with you from the session? And if you’re thinking of joining the next one, what would you like us to talk about?

Drop your thoughts and suggestions in the comments and see you at the next Open House!
