Work feels meaningful when the people behind it are better connected.

FAIRMED Nepal’s annual retreat brought together colleagues from the country office and project teams for team building, reflection, and exchange. Away from our usual workstations and field schedules, we had the chance to listen, share, laugh, and understand one another beyond our everyday roles.

For an organization working across different communities and project areas, this togetherness matters as it helps us communicate better, support each other more openly, and return to our work with renewed energy.

Congratulations to the Association of International NGOs in Nepal - AIN on its 30th anniversary!

As a proud member of AIN, we appreciate the platform’s important role in fostering dialogue, coordination, and collaboration among INGOs, government stakeholders, development partners, and civil society.

The Development Dialogue organized to mark this milestone was a meaningful space to reflect on Nepal’s development journey and the collective responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind.

We extend our best wishes to AIN and look forward to continued collaboration for inclusive and sustainable development in Nepal.

Across mothers’ groups in Sindhupalchok district, the discussions begin with a map of their own communities. Not a map made by outsiders, but one made by the women themselves, with female community health volunteers (FCHVs) supporting them to update and follow it. On the map, they mark the homes where a mother is pregnant, where antenatal care has started, where delivery happened at a health facility, where a baby has recently been born, and where postnatal care is still needed.

This is Self-Applied Technique for Quality Health, or SATH: a way for mothers’ groups and FCHVs to see who needs care, who may have missed care, and who should not be left behind.

These meetings also open space to talk about Neglected Tropical Diseases, including leprosy and lymphatic filariasis — signs to notice, places to seek care, and the need to treat affected people without fear or shame.

It is a community keeping watch over the health of its mothers, newborns, and families.

In Babai Rural Municipality, Dang, 11 executive members of the 'Disability Inclusion and Concern Forum' took part in a capacity-building training on institutional development. As a local Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD), the forum works to represent disability-related concerns in the municipality.

The sessions focused on practical areas such as organizational roles, advocacy, resource mobilization, networking, and participation in local planning processes. The presence of the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Babai Rural Municipality also created an opportunity for members to share their concerns directly with local government leadership. Their expressed commitment to increasing budget allocation for the disability sector is an encouraging point for continued dialogue.

Through the Prerana project, and in partnership with नेपाल महिला सामुदायिक सेवा केन्द्र -Nepal Women Community Service Center, we supported this modest but meaningful effort to help the forum strengthen its collective voice.

Animal bite management remains an important public health concern in Nepal.

In this article, author Manish Subedi shares his reflections on rabies prevention and animal bite management, including vaccine availability, service access, and the need for longer-term planning.

We are sharing this as a relevant public health reading on an issue that affects many communities, particularly those with limited access to timely health services.

Health workers and youth volunteers in Bowang, Baglung, have been leading regular sanitation activities in the community with support from the municipality, local groups, and other stakeholders.

FAIRMED Nepal is glad to be part of this effort, as cleaner surroundings and better hygiene help reduce infection risks for mothers and newborns, prevent diseases linked to poor environmental conditions, including neglected tropical diseases, and protect communities from avoidable illness and disability.
