WORLD RABIES DAY 2023
This year COHRP collaborated with students from Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) Paklihawa, Nepal to celebrate 'Rabies Week' from 22nd to 28th September to celebrate World Rabies Day 2023.

Various programmes were conducted throughout the week to celebrate WRD.

1. 22nd September: Online Webinar "Rabies: Situation, Control and Way Forward" with Dr. Rakesh Chand, PhD student at University of Cambridge and Prof. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh, retired Professor at Tribhuvan University.

2. 23rd September: Training for trainers targeted at teaching fial year veterinary students from IAAS Paklihawa on rabies awareness programmes.

3. 24th - 25th September: Mass awareness programmes on Rabies to secondary Schools

4. 26th September: Mass anti-rabies vaccination campaign

5. 27th - 28th September: World Rabies Day 2023 Intraschool Table Tennis Tournament

We are immensely proud of Dr. Rakesh Chand, who recently represented at the 14th Annual Meeting of the EASA Medical Anthropology Young Scholars (MAYS) Network at the Geneva Graduate Institute, Switzerland dated July 20-22, 2023. As a panelist, Dr. Chand presented on the use of medical anthropology in health institutions under the theme 'The Political, Politics and Policies in Medical Anthropology.'

One Health Day is a timely initiative that gives One Health advocates and practitioners around the world a powerful voice for moving beyond provincial approaches to emerging zoonotic infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, environmental pollution, food safety, comparative/ translational medicine, and many other problems, to a holistic, One Health*, way of thinking and acting for the benefit of all living creatures.

Center for One Health Research and Promotion (COHRP) has been working on its ongoing project which aims to understand and acknowledge the various factors that determine the behavioral pattern of animal bite victims prone to affected by in different geographical areas of Nepal.

As we continue to understand and acknowledge the perceptions of the general public, we also urge the government and the concerned authority to make the treatment facilities for these bite victims more approachable and convenient in every hook and nook of the country. And this is only possible if we incorporate the concept of , a multidisciplinary approach to solving this fatal zoonotic disease that is responsible for causing 59,000 deaths every year worldwide.
