Voices of Change begins in Madhesh Province!

Last month in Janakpur diverse youth, artists, performers, cultural practitioners, community members and key stakeholders came together to imagine a more inclusive and vibrant creative ecosystem in Nepal.

Through the Voices of Change, Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance (DLMGA) in partnership with FCA Nepal and Shanta Foundation, and in support of European Union, we are creating spaces to strengthen opportunities by empowering youth, women, Dalit, and LGBTIQA+ communities through capacity building, entrepreneurship, and advocacy rooted in creative expression.

The conversations were powerful filled with stories of resilience, creativity, challenges, and hope. Participants shared their experiences of navigating limited opportunities and recognition while celebrating the rich cultural traditions and talents that continue to thrive in their communities.

We were honored to be joined by
Ram Ashish Yadav-Speaker of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly
Kishori Shah-Deputy Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City
Jitendra Paswan-Vice chairperson of Dalit Development Committee
Ram Bharosh Kapadi-Chairperson of Madhesh Pragya Pratisthan.
They reaffirmed the importance of investing in inclusive cultural and creative spaces.

This is just the beginning. As Voices of Change expands across Madhesh, Sudurpaschim, and the Kathmandu Valley, we look forward to amplifying marginalized voices, celebrating cultural diversity, and building a sustainable and creative ecosystem where everyone belongs.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, let’s build a for everyone.

Girls and women from Dalit and marginalized communities, especially in rural areas, are more vulnerable to violence, health risks, exclusion, and everyday indignities caused by poverty, stigma, caste and gender based discrimination, and lack of access to safe menstrual hygiene facilities.

Menstrual dignity is a human right-not a privilege determined by caste, gender, geography, or class.

This , let’s break menstrual stigma, challenge injustice, indignities and demand safe, accessible, and dignified menstrual health for all.
