We recently completed our 2-day Young Change Agents Explorer Program in Sindhuli District, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Sindhuligadi.

A total of 29 students from 5 colleges—including 3 public and 2 private institutions—came together to explore a simple but powerful question:
How might we create meaningful change in our communities?

In a system where learning is often limited to textbooks, the Explorer Program creates space for something different—
✨ real-world problem solving
✨ creative confidence
✨ entrepreneurial thinking

Through a 2-day immersive experience, students engaged with their communities, identified challenges, and built solutions using design thinking and social entrepreneurship.

And the results speak for themselves:
📊 +17.2% overall skill growth
📈 Scores increased from 3.55 → 4.16
🚀 +28.7% growth in pitching confidence
🤝 4.52 / 5 in teamwork & love for learning
🌍 +24.9% growth in social entrepreneur identity
💡 100% of measured skills improved

But beyond the numbers, something more important shifted—
Students moved from passive learners to active problem-solvers.

This is what transformative education looks like:
Not just learning about the world, but learning to change it.

We would also like to convey our special thanks to Sally Armstrong for her special contributions to this edition of the Explorer Program.

🌍✨ Reimagining Education in Rural Nepal: Meet the Explorer Program

We’re so excited to share a big milestone! 🎉

Youthive Nepal and Young Change Agents recently ran the Explorer Program as a pilot at Shree Sisneri Secondary School, Lalitpur, introducing entrepreneurial and problem-solving education to students who are often left out of innovation and opportunities.

So… what is the Explorer Program? 💡
It’s an entrepreneurial learning journey where students:
✅ Identify real problems in their community
✅ Turn those problems into social enterprise ideas
✅ Learn skills they can use for life – not just for exams

We wanted to bring this program to Nepal because so many young people still experience rote learning and have limited exposure to creativity, innovation and 21st-century skills. Explorer is our way of showing that classrooms can also be hubs of innovation, where students see themselves as problem-solvers and change-makers. 🙌

With the support of teachers and mentors, students learned to:
👉 Use design thinking to understand real problems around them
👉 Work in teams to design social enterprise solutions
👉 Pitch their ideas and receive feedback from mentors

📊 What happened in just one term?

Average capability scores across key skills increased from 3.82 to 4.21 / 5

These skills included:

Problem-solving & creativity

Communication & pitching

Teamwork & collaboration

Project planning & budgeting

Career awareness & entrepreneurial mindset

✨ Students who agreed that entrepreneurial skills are important jumped from 25% to 100%

✨ Almost all students now feel confident communicating their ideas, working in teams, and planning projects

💬 Many students told us they now look at problems differently — not as complaints, but as challenges they can actually solve.

The pre and post surveys tell a powerful story about the future of entrepreneurial education in Nepal:

🌱 Even in a rural public school, students quickly embraced the idea that they can be social and environmental entrepreneurs.
🌱 With the right tools and guidance, their confidence, skills and dreams for the future grew in just one term.
🌱 This shows a huge untapped potential for entrepreneurial education to change how young people in Nepal learn, think and lead.

What makes us happiest is this mindset shift 🧠❤️
Students no longer see themselves as passive learners. They see themselves as young change agents with the power to shape their own futures and support their communities.

And this is just the beginning. 🚀

We’re now planning to expand the Explorer Program to more schools and regions in Nepal and would love to collaborate with people and organisations who believe in transformative, entrepreneurial education for all young people.

🙏 Special thanks to:
💛 Young Change Agents – for trusting us with their powerful curriculum and mentorship.
💛 Shree Sisneri Secondary School – for opening their doors to this program and believing in the potential of their students.

Day 11 of the Explorer program was all about understanding the concept of the Social Lean Canvas and preparing the Canvas for the proposed social enterprise ideas by the students of Shree Sisneri Secondary School.

Later, they were introduced to the concept of 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and engaged in 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, a dynamic process that encouraged them to think quickly, creatively, and without judgment.

In addition, they learned to 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐡 between 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬—a crucial step as they began developing potential solutions for their chosen issues.

We also had a guest speaker "𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥" from "𝐒𝐮𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐢 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞", a social enterprise located in Nepal who introduced the concept of social enterprise to our students and shared how social enterprise work in the context of Nepal.
