Butterfly Watching Event for Biodiversity Conservation Awareness

A Butterfly Watching Event was held around the Tribhuvan University periphery on Chaitra, 2082 led by trainee Aayusha Sharma Paudel. 29 students participated in butterfly identification and observation. The event promoted awareness of butterflies, Their role as pollinators and indicators of ecosystem health, encouraging biodiversity conservation and appreciation of urban nature.

कर्णाली प्रदेशमा पहिलोपटक लाटोकोसेरो तथा हुचिल उत्सव हुने भएको छ।

जाजरकोट जिल्लाको जैविक विविधतामा चर्चित बारेकोट गाउँपालिकाको लिम्सामा लाटोकोसेरो महोत्सव आयोजना गरिने भएको छ। स्थानीय चन्द्र-सुर्य युवा क्लबको नेतृत्व तथा गाउँपालिका लगायतको आर्थिक सहयोगमा सो उत्सव आगामी माघ २२ र २३ गते आयोजना हुनेछ। काठमाडौँबाट पोखरा हुँदै मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्ग भएर जाँदा करिब ५६० किलोमिटर, र कोहलपुर हुँदै जाँदा करिब ७२० किलोमिटर दूरी पर्छ। आउनुहुने हैन त? अहिलेबाटै योजना बनाउनुहोस् है!

Today, Dr. Yadav Ghimirey presented our research titled “Whistle in the Woods, Again: Dhole Recolonizing Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal” at the Asia Conservation Biology Conference in Kathmandu, Nepal. The study highlights the encouraging return of dhole to the Annapurna Conservation Area, while also raising concern that without proper conservation attention, this rare wild dog could decline in number or disappear from the Annapurna Conservation Area once again.

Under the leadership of the Conservation Area Management Committee, a Tourist Information Center and Souvenir House has started operating this week at the Tangting Youth Club building, Tangting, Kaski.

The center aims to share conservation messages, keep proper records of tourist numbers, and promote the sale of local products. It has been established under the project “Promoting Tourism through Whistling Hunters (Dhole Conservation)”, with support from EOCA European Outdoor Conservation Association, Dhole Conservation Fund, Friends of Nature Nepal (FON Nepal), and Annapurna Conservation NTNC - Annapurna Conservation Area Project

The information center is being managed by Namuna Gurung. All local committees have shown their support for the long-term sustainability of the center.
