Shangri-La Nepal Foundation Ancient Treasure of Mustang - Cave Research Project partner with Dept. Of Archaeology, Nepal Weekly updated! All video will be 720p at least, HD guaranteed!

The Lost Caves of Mustang documentary explores the cave temples found in Mustang, which is is the former Kingdom of Lo, where Tibetan
languages are still widely spoken and traditional Tibetan culture remains. Mustang’s status as a kingdom ended in 2008 when its suzerain Kingdom of Nepal became a republic. The influence of the outside world, especially China, is growing and contributing to rapid ch

ange in the lives of Mustang’s people. In 2007 Liesl Clark filmed her husband Pete Athans and climber Renan Ozturk as they tried to access some of these caves, and record them for the first time. They had only a month to do the work on this visit, and they get off to a poor start being obstructed by snow blizzards. Eventually they get some fine weather and began the exploration in earnest, turning up long lost paintings and artifacts from the caves, including manuscripts. Later they are joined by an archaeological crew, both local and foreign, as they access more of the caves. Cave People of the Himalaya | National Geographic Documentary

Today, The Shangri-La Nepal Foundation (SNF)and The Juniper Fund (TJF) Social Audit program was successfully completed at Siddharth Boutique Hotel, Kapan, Kathmandu. The event featured a meaningful presentation to the widows of mountain climbers (our beneficiaries) and the youth team from the widows’ families.
We were honored by the participation of the Chairman and members of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, Tourism expert- Bachhu Narayan Shrestha, the Chairman and Executive Director of Khumbu Climbing Center, and the Program Manager of Pasang Lhamu Mountaineering Foundation. Altogether, around 50–60 participants attended the event.
During the program, our beneficiaries and youth team shared their achievements made possible through our foundation’s support. Their progress and confidence were truly inspiring and beyond expectations. They expressed strong interest in engaging in more activities in the near future.
The Chairman of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality appreciated the transparency of the SNF–TJF program and expressed commitment to continue supporting our initiatives.
We look forward to continued collaboration to build a stronger and better community together.

I have known Dave Landman for a long time and organize several expedition to Himalayas. This time he visited to observe how Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC) operates its basic and advanced training programs for mountain climbers who will support guiding operations in high mountain regions, including Mt. Everest.
After the KCC ice climbing opening ceremony, trek to Gokyo, crossed the Cho La Pass, and then went on to climb Lobuche Peak 6119m.
It was a great pleasure to organizing his observation trip to KCC and trekking in Khumbu. We shared many stories about Nepal’s climbing industry and the global mountaineering community over dinner in Kathmandu. It was truly an honor to have him here and to receive his support to our ongoing projects.

After the Gen Z protest in Nepal, we Nepalis have come together in unity and returned to normalcy. Although unfortunate events did occur in our country, these were largely driven by political leaders themselves. On the positive side, the voice of the youth has grown stronger and more impactful than ever.

As of 13 September 2025, all domestic and international flights have resumed, and the travel and tourism industry is now returning to normal operations.

For example, our groups have already begun their adventures — including treks to Tsum Valley, the Manaslu Circuit, and a wildlife trip to Bardiya National Park for September and October 2025.
