📢 Update from the Saraswati Office

Dear Godmothers and Godfathers,
We hope this message finds you and your families in good health and high spirits.
We would like to share a small update regarding a temporary delay in sending your godchildren’s letter by post.
The Saraswati team has been regularly visiting the General Post Office in the city, and we have been informed that Nepal post has temporarily suspended the acceptance and dispatch of mail to France, Finland, Norway, and the US due to the current international situation affecting international postal services. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
We are also pleased to let you know that after the Nepali New Year, all of your godchildren have been promoted to their new classes and are doing well. They are in good health, continuing their studies, and remain grateful for your love and support. Please do not worry about them.
As soon as postal services resume, we will promptly send all of the letters to your postal addresses.
Thank you for your continued kindness, generosity, and understanding. Until then, please take good care of yourselves.♥️

After successfully completing their half-yearly examinations, the teachers and medical students of Sorig Bumshi School, known as Amchis in Tibetan, departed for the remote Himalayan region of Dhorpatan to begin their annual fieldwork and practical training as part of the Traditional Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa) program.

Located approximately 371 km west of Kathmandu, Dhorpatan is renowned for its rich diversity of medicinal herbs and alpine plants. The students work closely with their teachers to identify, collect, and study medicinal plants in their natural habitat, gaining invaluable hands-on experience that complements their classroom learning.

The field training continues for approximately four and a half months, from July until the end of October. During this time, the group travels through rugged mountain landscapes and remote villages, often hiking long distances and spending nights in simple mountain huts, shepherd shelters, or caves. These challenging yet rewarding experiences strengthen their practical knowledge, resilience, and deep appreciation for the centuries-old healing traditions of Sowa Rigpa.

In addition to their studies, the students and teachers provide free health check-ups and distribute traditional medicines to people living in remote communities, bringing essential healthcare services to areas where access to medical care is limited.

Meanwhile, at the Kathmandu Sorig Clinic, some medicinal students and Amchis continue to provide medical consultations and care for patients, ensuring that the clinic's services remain available while the rest of the team is conducting field training.

This unique combination of academic learning, practical experience, and community service plays a vital role in preserving the rich heritage of Traditional Tibetan Medicine while preparing the next generation of skilled and compassionate Amchis.

Dear all,

Today we celebrate Zamling Chisang(Universal Prayer Day) one of the most sacred and auspicious days in the Himalayan Buddhist tradition.

According to Buddhist tradition, this day
commemorates the time when Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) purified the land by offering fragrant incense to local deities and protectors. Through his wisdom and compassion, he transformed negative forces into protectors of the Dharma, creating harmony between people, nature, and all beings.

On Zamling Chisang, Buddhists offer incense, recite prayers, raise prayer flags, and perform acts of generosity and compassion. It is believed that the merit of positive actions performed on this day is greatly multiplied. It is a time to pray for peace, good health, prosperity, and the well-being of all sentient beings.

In observance of this sacred day, our team will be visiting the monastery to make prayers and offerings. Therefore, our office will be closed today. We will resume our office work tomorrow, Tuesday, 30 June.

May the blessings of Guru Rinpoche and this auspicious day bring peace, happiness, good health, and harmony to all.

Updates from the Saraswati Office: Quarterly Sponsorship Visit to Rasuwa district ⛰️

Rasuwa remains one of the regions where your support reaches some of the most resilient and inspiring communities. As part of our quarterly Sponsorship Program, the Saraswati team continues to maintain a close and meaningful presence in the district, ensuring that every child receives not only sponsorship support but also encouragement and care.

At the beginning of June, our team traveled to Rasuwa to meet beneficiaries from Dhalphedi, Timure, Ghattekhola, Mendogang, Gongang, Thuman, Tatopani, Pajong, Briddhim, Shyabru, Chilime, Brimdang, Gatling, and surrounding villages. With the monsoon season approaching and road conditions expected to become increasingly difficult, the team decided to begin sponsorship distribution in the Langtang region before commencing distribution in Kathmandu.

Beyond delivering sponsorship support, these visits allow us to spend meaningful time with the children and their families, gaining a deeper understanding of their daily lives while monitoring their educational progress, health, and overall well-being. Through these personal interactions, we can ensure that the support provided by our valued sponsor members continues to make a meaningful difference where it is needed most.

During this visit, we collected individual updates from beneficiaries across the Langtang region, including handwritten letters, school reports, and information about their family circumstances. Many of our Langtang beneficiaries had already received their sponsorship support through our Kathmandu office. We also personally delivered letters and parcels sent by sponsors to their godchildren.

To SolHimal team, committee members and all our valued godmothers and godfathers, thank you for your commitment to the children and families of the Rasuwa–Langtang region. Your support brings hope, opportunity, and encouragement to communities nestled high in the Himalayas.

Dear Beneficiaries and Families of the Saraswati Office,
Namaste and Tashi Delek,
We are pleased to announce the commencement of the 2026 1st Quarter Sponsorship and Scholarship distribution starting from Tuesday, June 16th , 2026.
To collect your sponsorship or scholarship, please ensure that you bring the following mandatory documents with you:
1. A recent copy of your school or college ID.
2. A photocopy of your latest academic results for the current study year.
3. A handwritten "Thank You" or appreciation letter /addressed to your sponsor. This letter should include updates on your daily life, studies, friends, and family, allowing you to share your progress and experiences.
4. If your parents or guardians are collecting on your behalf, they must bring a photocopy of their Citizenship Card or Green Book ID. Additionally, they should be informed of your latest academic performance, as some parents or guardians may not be aware of your current course or progress.
Please ensure they have the most recent information to share with us.
Important Note:
* The Saraswati Office is open Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
* Sponsorship and scholarship distribution will only take place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Every year, the Saraswati team carefully selects and prepares beautiful handmade Nepali crafts ordered by SolHimal for its exhibition in France. This special event is much more than a showcase of traditional craftsmanship—it is a meaningful initiative that helps raise funds for community projects in Nepal and India, supporting education, livelihoods, and improved living conditions for children and families.

Our office was filled with a "beautiful mess" as we checked, packed, and prepared hundreds of handcrafted items for shipment.

We are happy to share that almost 99% of the items have already been shipped, with only the final shipment remaining. 📦

The photos below capture the dedication, teamwork, and care that go into every step of this journey. Behind each package is the commitment of Solhimal Strasbourg team, Saraswati team, Solhimal committee members who believe in creating opportunities for Himalayan communities.
