EcoHimal Nepal is a national non-government organization (NGO) founded in 2009 with the goal of achieving sustainable development through community empowerment in Nepal’s mountain areas. Having worked in the region since 1992 as the Asia Regional Office of EcoHimal, an international non-government organization (INGO), EcoHimal Nepal have more than two decades of experience in livelihood enhancement through sustainable development and community capacity-building. The organization is well known for improving the living standard of people living in rural areas of Nepal without disturbing its ecology, environment, social and cultural structure by working with grassroots initiatives and in-depth involvement with community groups for developing and implementing projects. EcoHimal Nepal has been implementing number of projects in remote and marginalized areas of Nepal through integrated and participatory approach. Most infrastructure developments are achieved with voluntary labour contribution of local communities that creates sense of ownership of the project, while advocating community engagement in taking collective actions for healthier and inclusive societies. “Participation – Ownership – sustainability” is the main theme of this organization.

The global theme for World Tourism Day 2026 is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to redesign tourism.” We are bringing this theme to life in Nepal by moving directly from theory to the field!

Through the Low Carbon Tourism (LCT) Initiative, StoryCycle and our strategic partners रैथाने । Raithaane , Nextdoor are leveraging open data and geospatial tracking to build interactive Digital Twins of 14 key destination nodes along our historic 390.km trail.

By digitizing Heritage Layers, Accommodation Inventories, and Local Food Systems, we are utilizing a modern digital agenda to redesign this trail into an audited, climate-resilient economic engine that reduces transport emissions and keeps 78.5% of traveler spend directly within local communities.

Training Begins!

The Training of Trainers (TOT) on Social Emotional Education, Emotional Literacy, Facilitation Methods (SEEP Session Design) officially started yesterday (July 10) at Patlekhet Agroforest Resource Center (EVON) and running on 2nd day with great enthusiasm of all teachers.

The five-day training (10–14 July 2026) is organized by EcoHimal Nepal with financial support from EcoHimal Germany.

A total of 17 participants from 6 municipalities, across 4 districts; Achham, Kalikot, Solukhumbu and Kavre are taking part in the training.

The two days was successfully completed with active participation, interactive discussions and valuable learning. We look forward to the remaining three days of learning and sharing.
