Dhunche has become a hub for search-and-rescue operations and the coordination of relief supplies. Senior Army commanders are working relentlessly, seemingly without rest.

I was in Dhunche, Rasuwa, for four days in the immediate aftermath of the devastating GLOF disaster. Amid the extraordinary devastation and immense human suffering, I saw the Nepali Army working with remarkable discipline, urgency and dedication.

Authorities have so far rescued 10,451 people, with the Nepali Army carrying out air rescues of 252 foreign nationals and 3,344 Nepalis.

The human toll from the Rasuwa flood disaster has reached 903, while about 4,247 people remain unaccounted for, according to the latest update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
