During the first week of August, Prayatna Nepal conducted a 3-day Signature Technique Training in Pokhara, where 13 visually impaired girls learned to write their signatures independently.

Being able to sign your own name is something many of us take for granted. It is usually not the case for a visually impaired person. Visually impaired people often learn through Braille but may not get the opportunity to learn signature writing like sighted people do. Because of this, even an educated visually impaired person may sometimes be assumed to be unable to read or write simply because they cannot sign a document independently. However, in practical life, having access to the right skills and opportunities can be just as important as education itself, regardless of someone’s level of education.

Hence, this training was a small but meaningful step towards greater confidence, dignity, and independence.

Note: The Signature Technique used in this training was co-created by Prayatna Nepal in collaboration with Mr. Sundeep Gyawali, and is specially tailor-made to support visually impaired people in learning to write their own signatures.

Prayatna Nepal recently brought together 21 women and girls with visual impairment for a half-day Feminist Dialogue Series. It was a safe space to share personal experiences, talk about life struggles and challenges, listen to one another, and openly discuss what could help women feel more confident, skilled, and independent.

In August, Prayatna Nepal successfully conducted two one-day Disability Inclusive Development (DID) Workshops : one in Pokhara and another in Kathmandu.

The same workshop brought together 46 representatives from local, government, national, and international organizations, with 28 participants in Pokhara and 18 in Kathmandu.

These workshops are part of Prayatna Nepal’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness, strengthen understanding, and promote disability inclusion across different sectors.

Together, we can work towards a more inclusive society where everyone is heard, valued, and given equal opportunities.

A little support can make a big difference!!

We’re happy to have distributed 11000 sheets of Braille paper to visually impaired students at Shree Krishna Secondary School, Ghartigaun, Rolpa, along with 9 slates, 11 styluses, and 7 white canes to students at Shree Balkalyan Secondary School, Libang, Rolpa.

We hope these small efforts help make learning a little easier and more accessible for every student.

Prayatna Nepal distributed 13,000 sheets of Braille paper to 13 visually impaired students of Shree Shivalaya Secondary School, Kushma, Parbat.
This small effort is a step towards making education more accessible and inclusive for students with visual impairment and supporting them in their learning journey.
