👉Bringing Healthcare Closer to the Community

We are pleased to share that two outreach clinic (ORC) buildings have been successfully constructed in the remote areas of Ward 5 and 6 of Chure Rural Municipality, Kailali.

These facilities have been officially handed over on 13th Baishak 2083 (26th April 2026), along with essential equipment and furniture to support smooth service delivery.

With these new clinics in place, there is no longer a need to provide immunization and ORC services under trees or in open spaces—ensuring safer, more dignified, and reliable care for the community.

We believe this support will make a meaningful difference by improving access to quality health services for mothers, children, and families—right at their doorstep.

👉Strengthening Local Health Governance through HFOMC

The Health Facility Operation Management Committee (HFOMC) plays a vital role in health system by ensuring community participation, effective management, and accountability of health facilities. It supports planning, budgeting, monitoring, and improving the quality of health services at the local level.

In line with this, the project conducted HFOMC orientation and annual action plan support at the health facilities of Chure RM. The initiative strengthened members’ capacity in evidence-based planning and budgeting, while reinforcing their roles, responsibilities, and year-round supervision. Participants appreciated the self-assessment tool for identifying gaps and prioritizing improvements, while local leaders acknowledged continued support in enhancing service delivery and community engagement.

This effort reflects a shared commitment to strengthening local health systems and ensuring quality healthcare for all at the community level.

🌱 Mobilizing Leader Farmers (LFs) to Empower Their Communities 🌱

Under the PESHA Project, 102 Leader Farmers (79 male and 23 female) are actively mobilized across Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality (58 Leader Farmers) and Gandaki Rural Municipality (44 Leader Farmers), strengthening the capacity and improving access for vegetable and coffee farmers at the community level.

These LFs were selected from 67 clusters across both RMs, where they are playing a vital role in:
✅ Strengthening local-level coordination
✅ Providing technical support to farmers
✅ Promoting harmony among farmers

With continuous support from the PESHA Project through exposure visits, trainings, workshops, and individual guidance, LFs have enhanced their leadership, facilitation, and technical skills.

Nowadays, they are actively sharing their knowledge by:
🌿 Facilitating farmer group meetings
🌿 Providing field-based technical guidance within their clusters
🌿 Expanding access and collaboration with RM-level stakeholders

"Previously, I worked individually. Through this project, I have gained new skills, knowledge, and regular support. Now, I don’t limit my experience to myself. I actively share it with my community. These days, I can guide other farmers, which has boosted my confidence. I feel proud to support fellow farmers in my community, and I am motivated to do even more." – Yak Prasad Pant, (56Years)- Punyagaun-3, Gandaki RM

👏 These Leader Farmers are emerging as role models in their communities, driving the promotion of coffee and vegetable farming and inspiring farmers toward sustainable agricultural practices.

🌱 Empowering Farmers through Exposure Visit ☕
The PESHA Project organized a 3-day exposure visit (March 22–24, 2026) for 33 Experienced Leader Farmers (ELFs), 8 coffee pulper operators, and 12 field staff of MPMT from Sahid Lakhan and Gandaki Rural Municipalities. The visit covered the coffee-growing areas of Tanahun, Gorkha, and Kaski.

# Learning by Doing
Participants gained practical knowledge through visits to:
• Coffee nurseries and farms (private, group, and cooperative)
• Coffee pulping, hulling, and roasting centers
• Coffee cooperatives and market linkage points

# The visit also included:
• Nepal Tea and Coffee Development Board (NTCDB) and Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), Kaski, Pokhara, where participants learned about government support programs and observed coffee demonstration plots, including shade and intercropping management practices.

# Through observation and discussion, participants:
• Reflected on their current practices
• Identified areas to be improve
• Learned new skills and techniques to improve cultivation practices, production, processing, and marketing.

“I didn’t just learn. I saw it in practice. I have about 350 productive coffee trees, and 400 more will start producing next year. Now I am confident I can better manage my farm, increase production, and ensure quality during processing.” -Ram Prasad Pant, Coffee Farmer & Pulper Operator, Phujel-4, Gandaki RM, Gorkha

This visit was not just a study tour. It helped farmers gain practical knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve their coffee farming practices, while also providing an opportunity to build relationships with farmers, cooperatives, government bodies, and market actors.

👉Interaction and Dialogue Program on Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy

An interaction program was conducted in Chure Rural Municipality to discuss the growing concerns of child marriage and teenage pregnancy. The program brought together key stakeholders, including FCHVs, RM/ward representatives, school teachers, Health Mothers Group (HMG) members, child club members, religious leaders, and social activists.

During the dialogue, participants discussed the current local situation of child marriage, the health risks of teenage pregnancy, and the legal provisions that prohibit marriage under the age of 20 in Nepal. Stakeholders also shared their perspectives on the root causes, such as peer pressure, school dropout, poverty, and misuse of social media.

The program helped raise awareness about the legal and health consequences of child marriage and encouraged participants to take collective action. Stakeholders expressed their commitment to work together to prevent child marriage and protect the rights and health of adolescents.

Together, through collaboration, awareness, and community engagement, we can create a safer and healthier future for our children.

🌱 Supporting Farmers with Essential Agricultural Inputs 🌱
The PESHA Project continues to support farmers across Shahid Lakhan and Gandaki Rural Municipalities, Gorkha by providing essential agricultural inputs to boost coffee and vegetables productivity and promote sustainable farming and practicing climate-smart farming

Materials are given after checking farmers’ efforts in coffee and vegetable cultivation, making sure they reach those who are actively farming. Farmers also have the autonomy to select the materials they need for farming. After farmers’ selection, materials are ordered through vendors and delivered directly to farmers’ doorsteps at wholesale prices. Our project thrives on a 30/70 cost-sharing model. Farmers invest 30%; we provide the remaining support. This isn't a handout; it’s a hand-up. It strengthens our partnership and ensures farmers have full ownership of their success.
📊 Achievements
● 626 households supported
● Total value: NPR 5,088,356

🧰 Materials Provided
● Hill Tanks & plastic ponds for water storage and irrigation
● Pipes for water and garden irrigation
● Electric sprayers for liquid compost and organic sprays
● Other tools: sprinklers, gloves, watering cans, plastic crates, weighing machines, etc.

"I am one of 12 farmers in Raniswara growing coffee and vegetables. With the PESHA project's support and our 30% contribution, we installed a 22,000-liter plastic pond. This single pond supports 6 households and helps us irrigate nearly 25 Ropani of land. We no longer pray for the rain. We no longer worry about irrigation. Now, we can grow coffee, vegetables, and even off-season crops with confidence." - Mr. Bhoj B. Thapa (58), Raniswara Cluster-6, Sahid Lakhn RM
