14th Regular Weekly Meeting Successfully Concluded | Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal

The 14th Regular Weekly Meeting of Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal was successfully concluded today at Hotel Square, Pulchowk, with the active participation of our members.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Rasuwa Support Project – Field Presentation & Discussion, where representatives of the Rasuwa Rapid Action Team shared valuable insights into the post-flood situation, its impact on children and women, ongoing field interventions, youth volunteer mobilization, and the key areas requiring support.

We were pleased to have Ms. Sneha Shakya, Communications and Fundraising Officer, Terre des Hommes Switzerland; Mr. Purushottam Bista, Executive Director, Urjaa / Nepal Rapid Action Team; and Mr. Udit Timilsina, Field Coordinator, NRAT with us for the presentation and discussion.

The meeting also held an extensive discussion on the proposed recommendation document for the Government of Nepal. Members provided valuable suggestions and inputs, with the objective of finalizing the document and submitting it to the Government in the coming days, under the ownership of Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal.

The full participation, thoughtful contributions, and constructive engagement of our members made the meeting meaningful and productive.

A Strong Beginning for Rotaract Club of Nepal Mandal

The First Club Assembly of the Rotaract Club of Nepal Mandal was successfully held on September 19, 2026, at Valley View School, Mid-Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

Chartered on July 16, 2026, the club has made an impressive start within a remarkably short period. The Assembly reflected a strong sense of organization, purposeful leadership, clear vision, and commitment to service—qualities that set a positive foundation for the club’s journey ahead.

The program was graced by Charter President Rtn. Debendra Lal Shrestha, President Rtn. Uttam Bhattarai, Youth Committee Chair Rtn. Hari Ram Poudel, and Club Administration Co-Chair Rtn. Bigyan Shrestha of the Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal. They shared valuable guidance, perspectives, and suggestions on the club’s plans, leadership, programs, and future initiatives.

The Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal extends its warm congratulations to Charter President Rtr. Ritik Humagain, Club Advisor Rtr. Anuj Giri, and the entire Rotaract team for their dedicated efforts in establishing such a well-organized and forward-looking club in such a short time.

We look forward to a meaningful Rotary–Rotaract partnership and to witnessing the young leaders of Rotaract Club of Nepal Mandal lead, serve, and create lasting impact.

13th Regular Weekly Meeting | Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal

The Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal successfully concluded its 13th Regular Weekly Meeting today with a productive and forward-looking agenda.

A key highlight was the presentation on our Three-Year Strategic Plan, led by Rtn. Dr. Shankar Prasad Acharya, Chair, Strategic Planning Committee. The meeting discussed the Club’s priorities, goals and strategic direction for the coming three years.

We were also honored by the presence of our Charter Member and ARRFC, Rtn. M. K. Jha, who shared valuable guidance on strengthening and further refining the Club’s ongoing initiatives.

The meeting also held an extensive discussion on the Club’s potential role in the relief, recovery and reconstruction efforts following the recent Rasuwa floods. TRF Committee Chair Rtn. Pradip Kumar Shrestha, Service Committee Chair Rtn. Pratap Singh Tater, and fellow members shared their perspectives and recommendations.

The Club further reaffirmed its commitment to actively participate in Global Grant, District Grant and other service projects, while contributing more effectively to the activities of Rotary District 3292.

A productive meeting with a clear focus on strategic growth, meaningful service and lasting impact.

A Historic Milestone of Synergy & Humanitarian Service! ❤️

Today, set against the magnificent backdrop of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a historic Sistership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle, and Rotary Club of Bhaktapur!

This alliance unites three key cities across the Kathmandu Valley to execute high-impact joint service projects, advance youth leadership, and establish joint emergency relief mechanisms. The MoU was signed by Rtn. Uttam Bhattarai, President, RC Nepal Mandal, Rtn. Hari Maya Gurung, President, RC Kathmandu Circle, and Rtn. Dasarath Prajapati, President, RC Bhaktapur, along with the Presidents-Elect, Nominees, and Secretaries of all three clubs.

To mark this special occasion, a Joint Regular Weekly Meeting (RWM) was held alongside the signing ceremony.

🩸 Mega Blood Donation Camp:
In coordinated collaboration led by the Rotary Club of Bhaktapur, a major blood donation drive was organized jointly with RC Nepal Mandal, RC Kathmandu Circle and in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Nepal Mandal, Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Horizon, and Rotaract Club of Bhaktapur.

A special moment of inspiration: Rtn. Debendra Lal Shrestha, Charter President of the Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal, donated blood for his 50th time today!

The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Charter Presidents, Charter Members, Presidents, Secretaries, Rotarians, and Rotaractors across all participating clubs.

Crossing Thorong La Pass — Great Himalaya Trail 2026

The journey from Hilsa, Humla to Kanchenjunga Base Camp continues!

The Rotary Himalayan Environment Awareness Campaign – Great Himalaya Trail (GHT) High Route Expedition 2026 has successfully crossed the spectacular Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) and entered Manang District, after travelling through Humla, Mugu, Dolpa and Mustang.

Led by Rtn.Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa, an IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide, Vice President of Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal, and a passionate Himalayan environment and clean-up campaigner, the expedition is carrying a powerful message:

🌿 SAVE THE NATURE
🏔️ PROTECT THE HIMALAYAS

This 124-day, approximately 1,700-kilometre journey is more than an expedition. Along the route, the team is engaging with local representatives, community leaders, social workers, teachers and students to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective action to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

Thorong La is one of the world’s renowned high mountain passes, connecting Manang and Mustang and serving as an important route for trekkers from around the world. Standing amidst the magnificent Himalayan landscape, the pass reminds us that these mountains are not only our natural heritage—they are a responsibility we must preserve for future generations.

From Hilsa to Kanchenjunga—one journey, one message: Save the Nature. 🌱🇳🇵

11th Regular Weekly Meeting of Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal

The Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal successfully conducted its 11th Regular Weekly Meeting today, with a special focus on the recent Bhotekoshi–Rasuwa flood disaster, hydropower infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and search and rescue.

The highlight of the meeting was a highly informative and insightful presentation by Rtn. Bigyan Shrestha, Charter Member of our Club and Former CEO of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited.
Rtn. Shrestha provided an in-depth overview of hydropower tunnels, their construction, structural mechanisms, associated risks, and search-and-rescue possibilities within tunnel systems. He also shared valuable technical insights into the damage caused to hydropower infrastructure by the recent flooding in the Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi region, including the possible technical and structural vulnerabilities that need to be addressed.

The presentation was followed by an extensive discussion among Club members on the lessons Nepal can learn from this recent disaster and the measures that should be taken to strengthen disaster risk reduction, preparedness, infrastructure resilience, and emergency response mechanisms in the future.
Recognizing the diverse expertise within our Club, particularly in hydropower, disaster management, search and rescue, and WASH, the Club has also initiated preparations to develop a technical paper/recommendation document on the lessons learned and measures required for future disaster preparedness. The document is intended to be shared with Rotary District 3290 and the Government of Nepal, with the leadership and coordination of Rtn. Bigyan Shrestha.

The meeting also discussed possible relief, recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term support initiatives for communities affected by the floods, reaffirming Rotary’s commitment to meaningful and sustainable humanitarian service.

Today’s meeting was more than a regular weekly gathering. It was an important platform for sharing expertise, reflecting on lessons from the disaster, exploring practical solutions, and strengthening Rotary’s role in disaster preparedness and community resilience.
Disasters may leave deep scars, but the lessons we learn today can help build a safer and more resilient Nepal tomorrow.

Mr. Bharat Raj Gautam (Retired UNICEF Officer) and Mr. Keshav Sharma (Retired NAC) were inducted as members of RCNM. They were warmly welcomed by all members with a standing ovation.
Additionally, we were highly motivated and inspired by an insightful talk on “Membership Growth, Engagement & Retention" by Chair of DMC Rtn. Bishnu Hari Dahal.

The nation is facing a severe crisis following the recent flash floods, widely described as a “Himalayan Tsunami.” Hundreds of lives have been lost and thousands remain missing. In this time of profound grief, every citizen must stand in solidarity with the affected families and communities.
Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal (RCNM) and Rotaract Club of Nepal Mandal are also standing with those whose lives have been shattered by this tragedy. As part of its humanitarian efforts, the club has so far handed over to under District Administrative Office of Nepal Government 250 sets of clothes, 250 pairs of slippers, and 5,500 packets of Oral Rehydration Salt (Jeevan Jal), 1800 tablets of Paracetamol, 1000 tablets of Zink and 2000 tablets of metronidazole to help to the severely affected.
Much more still needs to be done and we will continue to do our part.

9th Regular Weekly Meeting | Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal

The 9th Regular Weekly Meeting of Rotary Club of Nepal Mandal was successfully held today at Hotel Square, Pulchowk.

We were pleased to welcome Mr. Jinsol Hwang from Korea, who delivered an insightful presentation on “Entrepreneurship, Local Industry & Rotary Collaboration.” The session provided valuable perspectives on entrepreneurship, local industry development, and the potential for collaboration between Rotary and the private sector.
