Bernard Pignede is a well known name in anthropology and Gurung community as a first proficient foreign researcher to do research among Gurungs. This organization "Bernard Pignede Foundation for Gurung Cultural Research (BPFGCR)" was founded by Bernard Pignede's assistant researcher and friend, a Gurung scholar C. They did research on Gurungs in late 1950s which was later published as the book Les Gurungs (The Gurungs).
