♻️ Zero Waste for Sustainable Tourism Nagarkot

To promote safe and sustainable waste management practices in the tourism sector, Changunarayan Municipality in coordination with the Nagarkot Naldum Tourism Promotion Board successfully organized a workshop titled
“Zero Waste for Sustainable Tourism” at Nagarkot.

The session oriented government officials and representatives from hotels and tourism businesses on advancing sustainable tourism through responsible waste management.

The workshop was facilitated by Health Environment and Climate Action Foundation (HECAF 360) in collaboration with experts from the Zero Waste International Alliance

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Jeevan Khatri, Mayor of Changunarayan Municipality, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Nagarkot. 🍃

🏔️ Preserving the Mountains: Youth Action at Kangchenjunga South Base Camp🌿♻️

In the breathtaking landscapes of Taplejung, along the trekking corridors of the Kangchenjunga Conservation Area and in strong coordination with Sirijangha Rural Municipality and Kangchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council Health Environment and Climate Action Foundation (HECAF360) united with one powerful mission to protect the mountains we call home.

Under the project initiative of Irish Aid, HECAF360 along with youth volunteers a dynamic waste clean-up,plastic brand audit and awareness campaign was carried out at Kangchenjunga South Base Camp. From collecting waste along the trails to engaging local communities in meaningful conversations about responsible tourism this was more than just a clean-up it was youth leadership in action.

Every bag of waste collected represents awareness raised.
Every young volunteer represents hope for a sustainable future.
Every step along these trails is a promise to protect our planet. 🌎

Under the UNICEF/CYN project WASH in healthcare facilities, HECAF360 is leading the Healthcare Waste Management domain among the seven domains. The project is being implemented in three provinces: Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim.

So far, Safe Healthcare Waste Management Orientation has been provided to a total of 89 participants across the three provinces. The participants included doctors, nurses, paramedics, and support staff from healthcare facilities.

Under the UNICEF/CYN WASH-FIT project, HECAF360 is leading the Healthcare Waste Management domain among seven domain in Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

At the municipal level, HECAF360 is facilitating coordination meetings with hospitals and local governments to promote the 4R approach—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. These meetings aim to identify local waste vendors capable of collecting and recycling healthcare waste.

To date, meetings have been conducted in six municipalities, engaging 71 participants, including ward health chiefs, environmental officers, healthcare facility representatives and local waste vendors.
