𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

Students go through many changes and challenges during their adolescent years. Understanding emotions, managing anger, and coping with stress are important life skills that help young people make positive decisions, build healthy relationships, and improve their confidence.

To support students in developing these skills, 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐥 (𝐂𝐃𝐖𝐍) conducted an interactive 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 for adolescent students of Kuleshwor Secondary School.

The session encouraged students to openly share their thoughts, understand their emotions, learn practical stress management techniques, and explore healthy ways of expressing feelings. Through group discussions, activities, and reflections, students actively participated and learned that emotional well-being is an important part of their personal growth and academic journey.

Supporting adolescents' emotional well-being is an investment in their future, helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬

CDWN were honored to welcome a joint field mission from Women Nepal and the Embassy of Finland in Kathmandu to observe the implementation of our Hamro Sahakarya Project at the community level in Madhesh Province.

SHG members shared inspiring stories of them 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 , growing leadership, improved livelihoods, having a stronger voice in their households, greater freedom of movement, and increased recognition as leaders in their communities.

The mission also included meaningful discussions with local government representatives, who reflected on strengthened collaboration with the SHGs and shared their continued commitment to supporting the groups through local budget allocations.

This initiative "Hamro Sahakarya" funded by the Embassy of Finland in Kathmandu with support from UN Women Nepal , Led by the Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) and Nepal Dalit Sewa Samaj focuses on transforming discriminatory harmful social norms and fostering gender equality through community-driven efforts. 💜💪

Under the 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐫𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚 Project, jointly implemented by Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) and Nepal Dalit Sewa Samaj (NDSS) , with the support of UN Women Nepal and Embassy of Finland in Kathmandu , our Self-Help Group (SHG) members continue to lead community-driven initiatives that respond to local needs.

In Sarlahi, SHG members are collaborating with the Nepal Police to organize awareness sessions in schools on the prevention of substance abuse. These initiatives are part of the Community Action Plans developed by the SHGs to address pressing social issues within their communities.

The sessions encourage students to understand the harmful effects of substance abuse, make informed decisions, and seek support when needed. More importantly, they demonstrate the power of collaboration between communities, schools, and local authorities in creating a safer environment for children and young people.

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) recently organized a two-and-a-half-day Capacity Building Workshop, bringing together Board Members, colleagues from the central office, and field teams for a shared learning and reflection experience.

Throughout the workshop, participants reviewed key organizational policies, received an orientation on Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH), strengthened their knowledge of digital safety and security, explored practical AI tools to enhance organizational effectiveness, and shared experiences and lessons from field implementation. The workshop also provided an important platform for dialogue between the Board, management, and staff, fostering mutual understanding, stronger coordination, and a shared vision for the future.

Beyond strengthening institutional capacity, the workshop served as a refreshing opportunity for the entire team to reconnect, reflect, and grow together. By fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation, remains committed to building a stronger organization that advances equality, inclusion, and meaningful social change.

𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲.

An interactive awareness session was conducted on the resolution proposal tabled in the National Assembly regarding the prevention of cyber violence and cyber crimes.

The program brought together Honorable National Assembly Members, Members of the House of Representatives, representatives from the Nepal Police Crime Investigation Department, Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, legal professionals, and journalists to discuss growing concerns around cyber violence, including online harassment, cyberbullying, digital stalking, identity theft, online fraud, and other forms of technology-facilitated violence.

Participants emphasized the need for stronger legal and policy measures, effective implementation, and increased public awareness to create a safer, more inclusive, and rights-based digital environment for all.

The session was organized by Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) with support from Kurve Wustrow.

As part of our Initiative, CDWN team visited Mahabharat Rural Municipality and spent meaningful time with inspiring Self-Help Group (SHG) women in Wards 4, 5, and 6.

During the visit, we completed endline surveys, facilitated ongoing SHG learning sessions, conducted community awareness sessions and collected stories of change that reflect the real impact of their journey. Members shared how the groups have helped them build confidence, strengthen unity, and bring positive changes in their families and communities.

Closing sessions were also held with Devitar SHG and Nari Utthan SHG, where members received certificates and shared their journey throughout the project. Both groups were handed over to the local government for continued support and sustainability.

Thank you to all SHG members, volunteers, and local government representatives for their support and participation.
