Last week, Impact Hub Kathmandu | Fablab Nepal had the opportunity to participate in Sectoral Stakeholder Discussion organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), where we shared our work in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaborative problem-solving.

During the session, we highlighted our day-to-day activities, discussed the challenges faced in advancing research and innovation, reflected on the importance of sustaining innovation initiatives, and shared our future aspirations. We also provided recommendations and expectations to help strengthen Nepal's innovation ecosystem.

We appreciate MOSTI for bringing together organisations and stakeholders to exchange experiences and ideas. We look forward to continued collaboration in creating an enabling environment for innovation and meaningful impact.

The session was divided into two halves, with the first half dedicated to Masterclass 3: Circular Strategy and the second half focused on Masterclass 3.1: Stakeholder & Ecosystem Mapping.

As part of the Roots of Circularity Incubator Program, Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) facilitated Masterclass 3 and 3.1 for Bagmati Cohort 3 on 28 July 2026 at the IH KTM Training Hall.

During the first session, the incubatees progressed from identifying users' emotional and functional needs to crafting innovative business solutions grounded in user interviews. Using circular strategy cards, they ideated and developed circular products and services that integrate circular economy principles into their business models.

In the second session, the incubatees explored stakeholder and ecosystem mapping, identifying key actors, partners, and stakeholders, defining system boundaries, and developing a holistic understanding of the ecosystem in which their businesses operate.

These masterclasses were facilitated by Rohan Shrestha, Program Manager for RoC, and Selisha Shrestha, Program Officer. The RoC Project is funded by the European Union and spearheaded by the Impact Hub Association (IHA) in collaboration with Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) and Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN).

Entrepreneurship thrives when innovation is matched with inclusion. 🌿

On 15 July 2026, the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (EwD) Cohort of the Recycling and Upcycling (RU) Business Incubation Program celebrated the successful completion of its incubation journey through a dedicated Demo Day in Pokhara.

The event provided four entrepreneurs with the opportunity to present their recycling and upcycling enterprises, demonstrate their products and prototypes, and share their entrepreneurial journeys with the evaluation jury, government representatives, development partners, and other ecosystem stakeholders. Their presentations reflected not only innovative business ideas but also resilience, determination, and the potential of inclusive entrepreneurship to drive sustainable change.

The event featured the participation of Mr. Sudip Aryal, Field Office Head for Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces, UNDP Nepal, and Er. Bimal Ranjan Karki, Engineer, Urban Development, Tourism, Forest and Environment Division, Pokhara Metropolitan City, along with representatives from the UNDP Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) Project, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and other ecosystem stakeholders.

Towards the conclusion of the event, Mr. Mukti Ram Aryal, Chief Administrative Officer, Pokhara Metropolitan City, visited the venue and interacted with the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (EwD) cohort. He observed the products showcased during the Gallery Walk, listened to the entrepreneurs' experiences and recommendations, and reaffirmed Pokhara Metropolitan City's commitment to fostering a more accessible and disability-friendly city while supporting inclusive entrepreneurship.

After three months of intensive learning, mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and business refinement, the entrepreneurs of Cohort 1 of the Recycling and Upcycling (RU) Business Incubation Program took center stage at the Demo Day on 14 July 2026 in Pokhara.

Nineteen entrepreneurs pitched innovative recycling and upcycling ventures, presenting business models, prototypes, and growth strategies developed throughout the incubation journey. The Demo Day provided a platform to showcase their progress while receiving valuable feedback from the evaluation jury and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

The event was graced by Mr. Dhana Raj Acharya, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Sudip Aryal, Field Office Head for Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces, UNDP Nepal, as the Distinguished Guest. Representatives from the UNDP Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) Project, Pokhara Metropolitan City, tourism and hospitality associations, the private sector, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem also joined the event in support of circular economy enterprises.

Following the final evaluation by a distinguished jury comprising representatives from Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Industrial Enterprise Development Institute (IEDI), and the UNDP GCRU Project, nine enterprises were selected to receive Post-Incubation Machinery and Equipment Support, taking the next step towards growing and scaling their businesses.

Congratulations to all the entrepreneurs on successfully completing this milestone, and our sincere appreciation to the jury, partners, guests, and stakeholders whose continued support is helping strengthen the recycling and upcycling ecosystem in Pokhara.

Under the leadership and collaboration of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Impact Hub Kathmandu, as the facilitation partner, is proud to implement the Recycling and Upcycling (RU) Business Incubation Program and Post-Incubation Support under the Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) Project. The program is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with technical support from the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP Nepal. ♻️

We have successfully concluded the Demo Day for Cohort 1 on 14 July 2026.

Over the past few months, 19 dedicated incubatees have strengthened their ventures through mentorship, learning, and perseverance. Following their final pitches at Demo Day, 9 enterprises were selected to receive technical and equipment support to further grow their businesses and amplify their impact.

On 1 July 2026, Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) successfully conducted Masterclass 2: Circular Finance for the incubatees of the Roots of Circularity (RoC) Incubator Program - Bagmati Cohort 3.

The session began with Brijesh Bhattarai, Financial Analyst at IH KTM, who introduced the agenda and provided an overview of circular finance, explaining how it supports the growth of circular businesses and contributes to achieving circular economy goals. He also shared insights into the local context of circular finance in Nepal.

To encourage collaborative learning, the incubatees participated in a World Café Discussion, where they explored the following questions in groups:

✨ Why is it challenging to finance a circular business?
🎯 What are the different circular business models?
🍀 What circular solutions do you want to adopt, or are most suitable for your business?

Each group then presented their reflections and ideas, fostering meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing among the participants.

The session also covered the pre-seed funding component of the RoC Incubator Program. Brijesh outlined the eligibility criteria, permissible activities, and key terms and conditions for accessing the fund. He guided incubatees in identifying potential circular solution areas where the funding could create meaningful impact. Alongside him, Rohan Shrestha addressed participants' questions regarding the funding requirements and provided practical guidance on aligning their business ideas with effective fund utilization.

The RoC Project is funded by the European Union and spearheaded by the Impact Hub Association (IHA) in collaboration with Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) and Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN).

[IEDI] Impact Hub Kathmandu successfully conducted Masterclass 3: Strategic Roadmapping and Pitching on June 26, 2026, marking the successful conclusion of the IEDI Business Incubation Program. As the final masterclass of the incubation journey, the session brought together the incubatees for an engaging, hands-on learning experience while celebrating the completion of the program.

The session was facilitated by Rashi Maharjan, Senior Programs and Research Officer, and Selina Maharjan, Programs and Communications Assistant. Designed to help entrepreneurs strategically plan the future of their ventures and communicate their ideas effectively, the masterclass focused on strategic roadmapping and developing compelling business pitches.

Throughout the session, incubatees refined their business briefs, identified key milestones and priorities for business growth, and translated these into concise and impactful pitches. Special emphasis was placed on structuring clear value propositions, communicating business potential with confidence, and tailoring pitches to effectively engage potential stakeholders, partners, and investors.

The masterclass was highly interactive, combining practical workshops, group discussions, and collaborative exercises. Participants actively refined their business concepts, practiced delivering their pitches, and received constructive feedback from facilitators and peers, enabling them to strengthen both their business strategies and presentation skills.

The session also marked the successful conclusion of the IEDI Business Incubation Program. To celebrate the incubatees' dedication and successful completion of the program, certificates were distributed in recognition of their active participation and commitment throughout the incubation journey.

The IEDI Business Incubation Program is supported by the Industrial Enterprise Development Institute (IEDI) and aims to support entrepreneurs in developing stronger, more resilient, and growth-oriented ventures through structured learning, mentorship, and business development support.
