In this edition of Impact Echoes, we reflect on a month of learning, innovation, inclusion, and global exchange. September brought hands-on STEAM learning through our Maker’s Fun Electronics Session, continued progress across the Roots of Circularity cohorts, and meaningful steps in our assistive technology work to support greater independence for people with spinal injuries. We also took Nepal to the global stage, with our team representing Nepal at the Academy’s Global Leaders Conference in Istanbul, Türkiye, and the Frontiers Symposium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, exchanging ideas and experiences around innovation, circularity, and inclusive climate action.

On 15 September 2026, Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) hosted an interactive Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Masterclass for the incubatees of Roots of Circularity (RoC) Bagmati Cohort 3.

The session explored how principles of gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion can be integrated into circular economy and business practices. Participants engaged in discussions and activities around intersectionality, social and disability inclusion, prevention of sexual harassment, and creating safer and more inclusive workplaces.

Through interactive group discussions and shared experiences, the incubatees reflected on practical ways to make their businesses more equitable, accessible, and inclusive, recognizing that a truly circular economy must also be inclusive. ♻️🤝

The masterclass was facilitated by Rohan Shrestha, Program Manager (RoC), and Selina Maharjan, Programs and Communications Assistant.

Impact Hub Kathmandu conducted Masterclass 1: Introduction to Circular Economy and Masterclass 1.1: Developing Circular Mindset on 9 September, 2026 for Lumbini Cohort 3 under Roots of Circularity (RoC) Incubator Program. This session took participants on a learning journey from historical systems to future-focused thinking.

The session began by unpacking the historical context of the Industrial Revolution, setting the foundation to better understand how today’s economic systems evolved. From there, the discussion moved into exploring the concept of the Circular Economy and what it truly means to adopt a circular way of thinking in both business and everyday decisions.

Participants were also introduced to transformative ideas such as regenerative thinking, encouraging a shift beyond sustainability towards restoring and enhancing natural systems. The session further challenged traditional linear “take-make-waste” models and highlighted alternative frameworks like the butterfly diagram, offering a clearer and more practical understanding of circularity in action.

This session was facilitated by Program Manager (RoC), Rohan Shrestha, Program Officer, Keshav Dhakal and Business Coach Suresh Sapkota and co-facilitated by Program Officer, Selisha Shrestha.

On 8 September 2026, Impact Hub Kathmandu (IH KTM) officially onboarded and oriented the 10 selected incubatees of the Roots of Circularity (RoC) Incubator Program - Lumbini Cohort 3, marking the beginning of their incubation journey.

The orientation session provided an overview of the RoC Incubator Program, including its objectives, core activities, overall framework, and the benefits available to the selected incubatees. Participants were also briefed on the commitment expected throughout the program, particularly in integrating circular economy approaches into their business models and practices.

The session also introduced the European Union (EU), the program’s funding organization, highlighting its support for initiatives promoting sustainable development and circular economy practices. In addition, participants learned about Impact Hub Kathmandu, its mission, and the supportive ecosystem it offers to impact-driven entrepreneurs.

To conclude, the incubatees were introduced to the house rules and guidelines to foster a collaborative, respectful, and productive learning environment throughout the incubation program.

[Roots of Circularity] On August 25, 2026, Impact Hub Kathmandu hosted Masterclass 3.2 – ‘Visibility and Branding’ for the Roots of Circularity (RoC) Incubators Program – Bagmati Cohort 3, 2026. The session was facilitated by Prajwal Gadtaula, Board Chair of Impact Hub Kathmandu and Founder and Managing Partner of Business Brainz, who provided a deep dive into the fundamentals of branding. He discussed key brand elements, the importance of clarity and consistency in communicating a brand message, and the role of brand positioning in differentiating a business and building a strong connection with its target customers. The session also highlighted the importance of understanding the target audience, maintaining a consistent brand identity across communication channels, and building a brand that reflects the business’s values and offerings.
