After the recent election results in Nepal, social media was full of criticism about how people voted.
But political conversations often happen among a relatively small group who already have access to political information, debates, and analysis. Many voters experience politics very differently.
Voting decisions are often shaped by lived realities, frustrations, and trust, not just policy comparisons.
And meaningful political conversations rarely happen when people feel judged. They happen when there is trust, respect, and space to talk honestly.
Maybe improving Nepal’s political culture begins with changing one thing:
Stop calling voters “bheda.” Start listening to them.
