Today, The National Indigenous Womens Federation(NIWF) held a productive meeting with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) team. The meeting included an introduction session between NIWF board members, staff, and the FAO representatives.

The discussion provided an opportunity to share organizational updates, exchange perspectives, and explore potential areas of collaboration. Both teams discussed common priorities and opportunities to work together in advancing the rights, livelihoods, and well-being of Indigenous communities, particularly Indigenous Women.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with the FAO team and look forward to work together in the future.

आज मिति २०८३ जेठ २१ गते, बिहिबारका दिन राष्ट्रिय आदिवासी जनजाति महिला महासंघको आयोजनामा फिब्व ख्यः (माईतीघर मण्डला) स्थित, काठमाडौंमा सांकेतिक धर्ना कार्यक्रम सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न भएको छ । संविधान निर्माण (नयाँ, संशोधन, सुधार, परिमार्जन तथा पुनर्लेखन) प्रक्रियामा आदिवासी जनजातिका मुद्दाहरूलाई छुट्टै विषय समितिमार्फत सम्बोधन गर्न, संविधान संशोधन अघि आदिवासी जनजातिहरूबाट स्वतन्त्र, पूर्व तथा सूचित मञ्जुरी (FPIC) प्राप्त गर्न तथा आदिवासी महिलाहरुको पहिचान, अधिकार र अर्थपूर्ण सहभागिता सुनिश्चित गर्न कार्यक्रममार्फत सम्बन्धित निकायको ध्यानाकर्षण गराइएको थियो ।
उक्त कार्यक्रममा महिला महासंघका सदस्य संस्थाहरू, आदिवासी अभियन्ताहरू, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Indigenous Television,NIDA, YFIN, लगायत विभिन्न आदिवासी जनजाति संस्थाहरूले ऐक्यबद्धता जनाउँदै सक्रिय सहभागिता जनाएका थियो ।

Today, Thursday, 21st Jestha 2083, the National Indigenous Women’s Federation (NIWF) successfully organized a symbolic sit-in program at Phibwa Khya (Maitighar Mandala), Kathmandu.

The program aimed to draw the attention of concerned authorities to ensure that Indigenous Peoples issues are addressed through a dedicated thematic committee in the constitution-making process, including constitutional amendment, reform, revision, and rewriting. The program also called for the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) of Indigenous Peoples before any constitutional amendments are undertaken and emphasized the need to safeguard the identity, rights, and meaningful participation of Indigenous Women.

Member organizations of NIWF, Indigenous activists, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Indigenous Television,NIDA,YFIN and representatives from various Indigenous Peoples organizations actively participated in the program, expressing their solidarity and collective commitment to advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Women.

The National Indigenous Women’s Federation (NIWF) held a meeting to welcome and introduce its newly appointed Adviser and Expert.
The meeting provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction and discussion between the newly elected Board Members, Adviser, and Expert. Updates were shared on the work and achievements of the new Board since assuming their roles, along with discussions on organizational priorities, future plans, and areas for collaboration.
NIWF looks forward to benefiting from the valuable guidance, expertise, and support of its Adviser and Expert as we continue our efforts to advance the rights and empowerment of Indigenous Women.

On 21 May 2026, the NIWF team had an insightful meeting with Beverly L. Longid, Chairperson of Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact(AIPP), and Paul Joseph Belisario, Global Coordinator of the Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self-Determination and Liberation to discuss issues concerning Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous Women, youth, and Indigenous Persons with Disabilities.
During the meeting, NIWF shared organizational updates and highlighted ongoing challenges while also exploring opportunities for stronger collaboration and collective action.
The discussion was meaningful, encouraging and strengthening our shared commitment to advancing the rights and voices of Indigenous communities.

आज मिति २०८३ जेठ ३ गते, महिला महासंघको कार्यालयमा संविधान संशोधन बहस पत्र तयार गर्ने कार्यदल समक्ष, आदिवासी जनजातिको दष्टिकोणबाट संविधान संशोधनका लागि आदिवासी विज्ञहरूसँगको बैठक सम्पन्न भएको छ ।
बैठकमा आदिवासी जनजातिका अधिकार, पहिचान, समानुपातिक प्रतिनिधित्व तथा कानुनी व्यवस्थासम्बन्धी विषयहरूमा छलफल गरि बैठकबाट प्राप्त सुझाव तथा निष्कर्षहरू सम्बन्धित नियकायमा सामूहिक रूपमा पेश गरिने छ ।

On 17 May 2026, a meeting was successfully held at the office of the National Indigenous Women’s Federation with Indigenous experts in the presence of the task force responsible for preparing the constitutional amendment discussion paper. The discussion focused on constitutional amendments from the perspective of Indigenous Peoples.
The meeting covered key issues related to the rights, identity, proportional representation, and legal provisions of Indigenous communities. The suggestions and conclusions drawn from the discussion will be collectively submitted to the concerned authorities.
