Himalayan Guge Organization (HGO) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2013. HGO’s primary purpose is to foster and promote health (through the Science of Healing, Sowa-Rigpa or Sorig), education, culture and community in the Himalayan region of Nepal. Himalayan Guge Organization invests all of its efforts in these areas as follows:
In terms of Health, HGO strives to:
Preserve and p

romote the rich tradition of Sowa-Rigpa (Science of Healing);
Support the Tibetan medical system and protect people’s health by ensuring standard medical care through offering training, workshops and organizing medical camps in remote parts of the Himalayan region;
Create a medical school specializing in Sowa-Rigpa, including a research center affiliated with the University of Nepal in Kathmandu. In terms of Education, HGO is committed to:
Expand awareness of the richness of the traditions within the community by developing programs to involve and empower the youth of the community;
Provide financial support for higher educational needs via scholarships for the youth within the community (initial efforts will focus on a particular village). With regards to Culture and Community, HGO will actively work to:
Preserve the rich culture of the Himalayan region;
Promote and encourage the unity and harmony within the community;
Develop community livestock programs and work on eliminating poverty in selected rural areas. And further, with the help of international volunteers:
Assist the elderly, the young and people in need within the region;
Build and/or repair monasteries, nunneries and schools within the region;
Create and foster international cultural exchange while inspiring generations to help others. This is a brief statement of the values and mission of Himalayan Guge Organization (HGO). We are looking for international agencies, foundations and support groups to help us preserve the Himalayan culture and community, as well as, empower the population to make their world a better place.

We are immensely Happy to Introduce Our Amchis,

2. Junior- Amchi Sonam Wangyal Gurung

With immense pleasure, I would like to share with you about the running Sowa clinic in Upper Mustang which I have been working on for a long time. After thorough research, budgeting, and planning, I am ready to present it to you.

The objective of this project is to identify common solutions that are mutually beneficial to Sowa Rigpa practice and people of Mustang as well as Nature Especially Lo Manthang Rural Municipality. Himalayan Guge Organization HGO is established a Sowa Rigpa Health Clinic at NAMGON DROPHEN SORIG CLINIC at RIGSUM CHOELING NUNNERY; Thingar, Tsonup – Lo Manthang Rural Municipality – MUSTANG with team of professionals medical and Amchis are providing daily checkups, treatment and assess the health of each individual that attends the clinic and get medicines will be dispense as needed.

According to HGO objectives: In health sectors, we have two majors’ projects which are: Short Term Programs and Long Term Programs.

1. Short Term Programs: Providing Free Health Camp and Workshop in remote villages of Nepal and Upper Mustang is one of them. HGO team of medical doctors and professionals that will provide checkups, treatment and assess the health of each individual that attends the clinic and get medicines with a workshop on hygiene.

2. Long Term Programs: Establishing/Building Sowa Rigpa Health Clinic in such remote villages with qualified Amchis (Doctors), well equipped infrastructures with quality of medicines other necessary.

So, we have started from the Mustang region of Nepal at Upper Mustang - established a Sowa Rigpa Health Clinic by support and collection of donations from our own HGO members, family and friends. And, in near future, planning to establish/build another clinic at Tsarang, Lo Ghekar Domodarkund Rural Municipality – MUSTANG.

The one of main objectiveof establishing clinic with qualified Amchis: this clinic will be open forwhole 12 months especially during the COLD WINTER from month of November toApril because month of October most of people of Upper Mustang going to shiftto City for warmer places and better facilities during the cold winter. All Government offices, Health Clinics, Schools, going to close and only people who are lacking financially, senior citizens, and only staying at home to look after houses and domestic animals. Therefore, our clinic will be open for them and to take care of their health.

We are very willing to share our passion for improving the health problems of Mustang and look forward to the opportunity to work as your partner and achieve success together.

We (HGO & JJoy Foundation) pleasured to share this immense good news to people of Upper Mustang that we have opened Sowa Rigpa Clinic at Namgon Drophen Sorig Clinic – Rigsum Choeling Nunnery, Lo Manthang RM – 03, Thingar, Mustang for people of Upper Mustang and others.

We are providing Free Health Check up with Free Medications, Others – Acupuncture, Moxibustion etc. The clinic is opening daily except on weekends and National Holidays.

We would like to hearty THANK and Gratitude Administration and family of Namgyal Monastery for providing rooms for the clinic and other facilities to run the clinic smoothly.

We would like to hearty THANK to Amchi Nyima Lodoe La and Amchi Sonam Wangyal La for accepting our request and taking care of people and clinics with joining our team.

The Holy LAPCHI - Pilgrimage

Lapchi (also spelled Lapche or Lapchi Kang) is a sacred mountain and valley located in the Rolwaling region of Nepal, near the border with Tibet. It's a significant pilgrimage site in Tibetan Buddhism, particularly associated with Milarepa, a renowned Tibetan yogi and poet. The Lapchi trek offers a unique experience of remote and less-visited Nepali terrain, with stunning views of the Himalaya.

Spiritual Significance:
Lapchi is considered a sacred mountain and is a pilgrimage destination for Buddhists.

Milarepa's Hermitage:
The area is associated with Milarepa, a prominent Tibetan yogi who is said to have lived and meditated in the Lapchi region.

Trek:
The Lapchi trek offers a challenging but rewarding experience, leading to remote villages and offering breathtaking views of the Himalaya.

Location:
Lapchi is located in the Rolwaling Valley, in the eastern part of Nepal, near the border with Tibet.

Altitude:
The mountain is situated at an altitude of around 4850 meters.

Permits:
To trek in the Lapchi region, trekkers need to obtain permits for the Rolwaling Valley Restricted Area and the Gaurishankar Conservation Area.
