Some of the most meaningful lessons cannot be found in textbooks, they are built through conversations, self-reflection, and the confidence to speak up.

As we concluded our in-school program "𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀,𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀" at Shree Bageshwori Secondary School in Makwanpur, we celebrated the growth of adolescents who strengthened their leadership, life skills, confidence, and understanding of gender equality. Throughout the program, participants learned to express themselves, think critically, and make informed decisions that will continue to shape their lives beyond the classroom.

Every adolescent deserves a safe space where they can ask questions without fear, challenge harmful norms, and access the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health and future. "मेरो स्वास्थ्य" (𝗦𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺) is built on this belief; creating supportive learning environments where adolescents gain the confidence to understand their rights, make informed choices, and become advocates for positive change in their schools and communities.

This program was conducted at Shree Chhetrapal Secondary School, Nuwakot creating a safe and inclusive space where adolescents could learn, reflect, and engage in open conversations without judgment. By encouraging critical thinking, building confidence, and promoting awareness of their rights.

The impact of these conversations was reflected in the voices of the participants. One shared, "𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. Another participant reflected, "𝑫𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒘𝒐-𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎, 𝑰 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.

Through the "𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 (𝗦𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺)" at Shree Narayandevi Secondary School, Nuwakot, adolescents explored key topics including adolescence, menstrual health and hygiene, consent, body autonomy, gender, contraception, adolescent pregnancy, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The sessions provided a safe space to challenge myths, build confidence, and encourage informed decision-making.

The workshop strengthened participants' understanding of SRHR, increased their confidence to discuss these topics openly, and encouraged them to advocate for their rights and well-being. As one participant reflected, "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙄 𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨."

𝟭𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗼 | 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂

This time, our gratitude goes to the school community of Sundari Devi Secondary School, Dandabas, Makwanpur, where we joined the closing event of our 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀, 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

Listening to students bring their learning to life through journal reflections, poems, songs, and personal stories was a profound reminder of what happens when adolescents are given the space to reflect, express themselves, and grow. Watching them share their experiences with their entire school community, many for the first time, was a moment of genuine pride. Equally meaningful was hearing teachers reflect on the positive changes they have already witnessed among the students.

Our sincere gratitude to Thaha Municipality, the school administration, the principal, all the teachers, and parents for believing in this journey and making the program possible. Most importantly, thank you to every student for embracing the program with openness, curiosity, and courage.

This weekend, we celebrated 10 Years of Hamro Palo – 𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. We were humbled to be joined by our alumni, teachers, community leaders, local government representatives, partners, friends, supporters, and well-wishers. Your presence reminded us that Hamro Palo's journey has always been a collective one. Thank you for celebrating this milestone with us.

While our 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗹, was unable to join us due to health reasons, we are grateful to 𝗡𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗷 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗮 and 𝗞𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 for sharing reflections on his lifelong contribution to community learning and leadership. Throughout June, Hamro Palo conducted three Training of Facilitators programs in 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗽𝘂𝗿 and 𝗗𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶, bringing together 𝟮𝟴 youths to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and confidence before facilitating the Equal Classrooms, Equal Futures workshops in schools within their communities.
The trainings focused on facilitation techniques, gender-transformative practices, safeguarding and referral mechanisms, self-love, self-care, sexuality, and creating safe and inclusive learning environments for adolescents.
Reflecting on the experience, one of the facilitators noted, "𝑰 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔. The knowledge and skills gained through these trainings have supported the facilitators in delivering the Equal Classrooms, Equal Futures workshops across various schools.

For the past decade, Hamro Palo has been taking small but meaningful steps toward a future where every adolescent and young woman has the education, confidence, and leadership skills to shape their own life and community.

What began as a small project has now reached thousands of young individuals across Nepal. Every classroom discussion, every leadership session, every conversation about gender equality has been a step toward creating communities where adolescents and young women can learn, lead, and thrive.

As we celebrate 10 years of Hamro Palo, we also celebrate the courage, resilience, and potential of the young minds who inspire us every day.
Here's to continuing the journey toward an educated, empowered, and gender-equal future.

After Makwanpur we have taken our co-educational program "𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀, 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀" to two schools in Dakshinkali Municipality, Kathmandu: 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗶 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 and 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. Bringing together adolescents to begin a journey toward creating safer, more inclusive, and gender-equal learning spaces.

Through the opening sessions, participants shared inspiring hopes for a future where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunities. They also expressed their eagerness to learn about gender equality, inclusion, and safety while building the confidence to raise their voices and contribute to positive change.
