In April, four of our General Members joined the 9th Annual Girl-led Leadership Conference in Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts. Below are excerpts from their experiences.

Through our SRHR programs, we continue working alongside adolescents, schools, and communities to build a generation that is informed, empowered, and leading change

Through this program, I learned more about my body, my rights, and why these issues matter in our daily lives. The 9th Annual Girl-led Leadership Conference in Sindhupalchowk brought together program graduates from partner schools under the theme “Leadership Begins with Her: Safe Spaces Together.”

This year, the conferences were held concurrently in Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts . We also extend our appreciation to local organizations for facilitating sessions on adolescent safety and well-being.

Centered on child protection and safeguarding, the conference reflects Hamro Palo’s continued commitment to strengthening safe and supportive environments for adolescents by actively engaging communities, schools, and local government stakeholders.

Thank you to Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal for your time and for creating a learning space for our program alumnae to explore the Girls’ Learning Center in Nawalpur.

Recently, our program alumnae from Nuwakot traveled to Chitwan and Nawalpur, where they learned about their own potential, experienced leadership activities, Tharu culture, and explored Chitwan National Park. We strongly believe that travel is a powerful way to build leadership skills. We hope the girls will apply these learnings in their daily lives and in their schools.

When we started the LEAD WithIN project in the second half of 2025, our goal was to reflect on the very idea of self-leadership and its various dynamics—knowledge, skills, opportunities, platforms, allies, and supportive environments.

By early 2026, 124 young women had joined us across five different cohorts in Kathmandu and Sindhupalchowk. This initiative is designed to spark a conversation on women’s leadership, beginning with the self. Too often, women are sidelined despite their enormous potential. Through LEAD WithIN, we aimed for young women to recognize their own potential, take leadership of themselves first, and in doing so, naturally lead the causes and institutions they care about.

𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐍 has journeyed from Kathmandu to Dakshinkali and Sindhupalchowk, spreading the message that self-leadership is the foundation for all forms of leadership.

Participants demonstrated notable growth in confidence to lead from within, along with strengthened skills in communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. These improvements have enabled them to express themselves more effectively and are expected to inspire proactive roles in their families and communities.

104 adolescent girls have graduated from our Her Time Is NOW project, beginning with the निर्धक्क नेतृत्व workshops in schools, marking a strong start to the year.

We are grateful to the girls for their participation, interest, and feedback, to the schools for welcoming us, and to our facilitators for leading the program wholeheartedly. The girls continue to inspire and drive everything we do.

Next steps: more follow-up activities to support their safety, well-being, and leadership development.
