📚✨ One-Day Orientation on Inclusive Education

Unnati Kathmandu, in coordination with the thakre rural municipality organized a one-day orientation on Inclusive Education for teachers at Janajagriti Secondary School, Thakre, Dhading.

The orientation focused on strengthening teachers’ understanding of inclusive education, promoting equal learning opportunities, and creating a supportive and accessible school environment for children with disabilities and diverse learning needs.

The session provided an opportunity for teachers to discuss practical approaches, classroom strategies, accessibility, participation, and ways to ensure that every child feels included, respected, and supported in the learning process. 🤝📖

We sincerely appreciate the participation and valuable contributions of the school administration, teachers, facilitators, and all stakeholders who made the program meaningful and interactive.

Regular Health Check-Up for Blind and Visually Impaired Students

Mahadevbesi Health Center, in collaboration with Unnati Kathmandu and Thakre Rural Municipality Ward No. 6, conducted a regular health check-up for the Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) students residing in the hostel of Shree Janajagriti Secondary School.

A total of 17 visually impaired students residing in the hostel received health examinations conducted by Dr. Anil Bhattarai.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Thakre Rural Municipality Ward No. 6 and Mahadevbesi Health Center for their valuable support and service-oriented initiative. This health check-up was conducted as part of the Health Center’s regular program, contributing to the well-being and healthy development of the students.

Together, through collaboration and community support, we can promote inclusive health and education for all children.

Empowering Families, Strengthening Livelihoods! 🐐🌱

Unnati is implementing an integrated project focusing on education, health, and livelihoods to promote holistic and sustainable community development.

As part of the Livelihood Support Initiative, Unnati successfully distributed 24 goats to eight families in Thakre Rural Municipality. Each household received three crossbred goats (Boer and Jamunapari) to support income generation and strengthen household livelihoods.

Among the eight beneficiary families, three families are parents of Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) children, ensuring that livelihood opportunities are also extended to families with children with disabilities.

These goats are more than just a source of income—they represent hope, stability, dignity, and an opportunity for a more sustainable future. Through livelihood support, we aim to strengthen families, create opportunities for economic growth, and contribute to better educational opportunities for children.

Together, we are building stronger families and creating pathways toward self-reliance. 💚

🌟 One-Day Orientation on Daily Life Skills (DLS) 🌟
A one-day Daily Life Skills (DLS) Orientation was successfully conducted at the Shree Janajagriti Secondary School Blind Hostel to support visually impaired children in developing greater independence and confidence in their daily lives.

The session was facilitated by Mrs. Navina Gyawali, a well-known culinary professional, who guided the children through practical activities from their morning routine to bedtime.

A total of 17 visually impaired children age from 9 to 18 years participated in the orientation. The session covered a range of practical and essential life skills, including:
🧘 Yoga and physical exercises
🍽️ Having breakfast and cleaning their own plates
🛏️ Managing and organizing their rooms
🥟 Eating and enjoying momo independently
🧼 Maintaining personal hygiene
♻️ Properly disposing of disposable plates
🥔 Peeling potatoes and preparing vegetables
🔥 Safely lighting and using a gas stove

The orientation focused on helping the children become more self-reliant, confident, and independent in their everyday lives. It was an engaging and practical learning experience filled with participation, interaction, and valuable life skills.

Empowering Families, Strengthening Livelihoods !

Unnati is implementing an integrated project focusing on education, health, and livelihoods to ensure holistic and sustainable community development.

As part of the Livelihood Support Initiative, Unnati has successfully distributed three buffalloes to three families and three piglet for one more family. Through this initiative, Four more families in Thakre Rural Municipality have begun their journey toward self-reliance through animal rearing support.

These animals are not just sources of income; they represent hope, stability, and a pathway toward a more sustainable future. Together, we are creating opportunities for growth, dignity in every household, and better educational opportunities for children.

Pig Farming and Management Training

The project areas and families supported by Unnati Kathmandu have been severely affected by the outbreak of African swine fever. In response to this situation, and in collaboration with Thakre Rural Municipality and the Department of Agriculture and Animal, we organized a one-day training on Pig Farming and Its Management.
The training focused on improving farmers' knowledge and capacity regarding proper pig farming practices. Key topics covered during the session included the introduction to different pig species and breeds, proper care and management, vaccination, the importance of vitamins and minerals, prevention and management of swine flu and other diseases, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in pig sheds.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Jharana Marasini, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Animal, Thakre Rural Municipality. A total of Twenty pig farmers from across Thakre Rural Municipality participated in the training.
The training provided an important opportunity for local pig farmers to enhance their knowledge and adopt improved farming and biosecurity practices to protect their livestock and reduce the impact of disease outbreaks.
