𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐌𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬!

Today, 17 students from the 5th batch of CMS SEE (Secondary Education Examination) candidates set off from Snow Leopard Residence (SLR), Kathmandu, on their journey to Dunai, where they will sit for their exams starting from 2nd April 2026.

Their journey tells a powerful story of determination. Coming all the way from the remote Dho-Tarap Valley, these students spent the past 3–4 months in Kathmandu as part of the Vision Dolpo Winter Program, preparing in a more supportive and resourceful learning environment. Their dedication, discipline, and willingness to adapt reflect not only their personal commitment to education but also a shared vision of creating meaningful opportunities for children from one of Nepal’s most geographically isolated regions.

After completing their SEE examinations, they will return to their villages to spend valuable time with their families before coming back to SLR in June/July to continue their higher secondary (+2) education in Kathmandu.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, resilience, and determination. As they take this important academic step, we extend our heartfelt best wishes for their success.

Students from Snow Leopard Residence (SLR) visited the sacred site of Namo Buddha, gaining insights into compassion and cultural heritage, and explored Apsara Bari to learn about organic farming and sustainable agriculture. The visit was a meaningful learning experience for both academic and personal growth. Sincere thanks to Kedar Binod Pandey for warmly hosting us at the inspiring Apsara Bari.

Snowfall Blankets Upper Dolpa: An Update from Crystal Mountain School

The snowfall in Upper Dolpa began this Monday, bringing around 2–3 feet of snow to the valley. The heavy snowfall has temporarily disrupted the operation of Crystal Mountain Secondary School (CMS). Although it stopped for a short while yesterday afternoon, it has started snowing again this morning.

Despite these challenging conditions, students of Grades IX and X continue their self-study at the school hostel, while other students have been given a short break for the time being. The school is still expected to conclude its operation on 15th November as planned, with the final exams scheduled to begin on 3rd November — hopefully as per the original timetable.

We deeply appreciate the dedication and resilience of our teachers, students, and community members who continue to keep education alive amid the snow and cold.

Warm hearts and determined minds truly make learning possible — even at 4,1300 meters above sea level.

Congratulations to Phurwa Tsering!

We are proud to share that Phurwa Tsering Gurung, one of the skilled and talented students nurtured through Crystal Mountain School (CMS) and the Snow Leopard Residence (SLR), has been selected as one of Glocal’s 20 under 20!

Currently pursuing his high school studies at Shree Mangal Dvip School - Education for Himalayan Children on scholarship, Phurwa is a self-taught documentary filmmaker and youth advocate. Since grade 8, he has passionately honed his skills in photography, videography, and editing.

Through his inspiring documentary “Inside My Forgotten Hometown”, Phurwa beautifully captures the cultural heritage and traditional lifestyle of Dolpo, with the vision of preserving and sharing his community’s identity with the wider world.

Phurwa continues to inspire many through his storytelling, creativity, and dedication.

Congratulations to Dr. Phurwa Dondrub Dolpopa!

We are delighted to share the wonderful news about our alumni Dr. Phurwa Dondrub Dolpopa (2nd group from Crystal Mountain School to graduate with SLC), has successfully defended his PhD with no corrections and officially earned his doctorate.

Dr. Phurwa’s journey from Dolpo to becoming a professor at one of the world’s leading universities is a remarkable achievement and an inspiration for our entire community, especially the younger generation of Dolpo students. His perseverance, academic excellence, and commitment to his homeland embody the true spirit of Vision Dolpo’s mission.

We believe his success will encourage many more students from Dolpo to dream big, pursue higher education, and serve their people and homeland with pride.

We are deeply honored to share that Vision Dolpo and our partner organization Action Dolpo have been awarded 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 by Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality, Dolpa in recognition of our long-standing contributions in the fields of education and health within the Rural Municipality.

This acknowledgment, presented during the Municipality’s 17th Assembly, is a meaningful testament to the dedication of our teams, partners, and supporters—both in Nepal and abroad—who have worked tirelessly over the years to improve the lives of children, youth, and families in one of Nepal’s most remote regions.
