Vision Dolpo is not for profit service oriented organisation, registered under the Social Welfare Council Nepal. We have been working in the field of Education, Health, Nature Preservation and Cultural promotion since 18years, in Dolpo, a Tibetan speaking area in north- western Nepal.

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝-𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

The loss and devastation we have witnessed, and that many of us have personally experienced, are beyond words. The emotions are those of grief, helplessness, anger, frustration, shock, and profound horror.

Yet, amidst this devastation, the way communities have come together to support those affected each contributing in whatever way they can has demonstrated extraordinary compassion, solidarity, togetherness, and hope.

At 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐩𝐨, we have families among those who have lost loved ones, and we can only imagine the immense grief of those left behind. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone who has lost family members, loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and years of hard work and dreams. We pray for all those who were taken from us so tragically and untimely.

No words or actions can ease the sadness and horror caused by this disaster. However, from our side, we are grateful to be able to make a small contribution of 𝐍𝐏𝐑 𝟏𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 to the 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝, in the hope that it will contribute to the ongoing 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞, 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟, and 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬, and help provide essential support to affected communities.

We appreciate the 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐥, security personnel, volunteers, humanitarian organizations, and local communities for their swift rescue and relief efforts during this difficult time.

We are also deeply grateful to Action Dolpo, France for making it possible for us to contribute and stand with the people of Nepal in a time of such great need.

𝐀 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

On the evening of Friday, 28th August 2026, we were deeply honored to welcome Dr. Phurwa D Dolpopa back to Snow Leopard Residence (SLR) in Kathmandu, the home away from home for our high school students from Dho-Tarap Valley.

Dr. Phurwa is no stranger to this journey. An alumnus of Vision Dolpo and its very first Program Coordinator, he now holds the distinction of being the first PhD holder from Dho-Tarap Valley, a milestone that once felt like a distant dream for a boy from Dolpo, and is now a living example for every student in this room.

The evening began with something truly special: the first screening of "Zhontral," a film shot by Dr. Phurwa during his PhD fieldwork. Watching it together, our students saw their own culture and homeland reflected on screen a quiet but powerful reminder that their stories matter, and that they too can be the ones to tell them.

The screening was followed by an interaction session, where Dr. Phurwa opened up about his own journey from classrooms at Crystal Mountain School, to his PhD at the University of Colorado Boulder, to his current role as Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. He spoke candidly about the challenges, the doubts, and the persistence it took to get there.

For our students, this wasn't just a talk, it was proof. Proof that where you start doesn't decide where you can go. We hope this evening planted a seed of ambition in every student who was in that room, and that in the years to come, Dolpo will see many more scholars, PhD holders, and changemakers rise from its valleys.

Despite Crystal Mountain School (CMS) being granted full secondary school status by Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality (DBRM) in 2020, the Government of Nepal has, to date, not deployed a single permanent secondary-level teacher to the school. During the six years of its secondary status, Vision Dolpo (VD) has remained the sole provider of subject-specific teachers and other services required at the secondary level; a responsibility that no small non-profit organization can reasonably be expected to shoulder indefinitely.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, as today marks the beginning of a collaboration between VD and DBRM to promote quality education in Dolpa.

Vision Dolpo (VD), together with our funding partner Action Dolpo (AD), is pleased to announce the signing of a 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 with Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality (DBRM) to strengthen quality secondary education at Crystal Mountain School (CMS). This marks a significant milestone in the history of VD and DBRM , as the two organizations have decided to partner toward a common goal rather than forming parallel systems.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing CMS into a model secondary school for Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality and, ultimately, for the wider Dolpa region.

Under the terms of the Agreement, DBRM and VD have agreed to jointly share the remuneration and teacher training costs for six (6) secondary-level subject teachers in a 𝟑𝟗:𝟔𝟏 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨, respectively.

We wish for this partnership to be sustained and to usher in many more collaborations in the future. This will serve our common vision of providing quality education to the children of Dolpo and steering them toward self-reliance.

Our deepest gratitude goes to डाेल्पाे बुद्ध गाउँपालिका , Action Dolpo , the School Management Committee, our supporters, and everyone who has contributed to making this partnership possible. May our partnership benefit the children of CMS and expand to other schools in the near future.

𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐌𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬!

Today, 17 students from the 5th batch of CMS SEE (Secondary Education Examination) candidates set off from Snow Leopard Residence (SLR), Kathmandu, on their journey to Dunai, where they will sit for their exams starting from 2nd April 2026.

Their journey tells a powerful story of determination. Coming all the way from the remote Dho-Tarap Valley, these students spent the past 3–4 months in Kathmandu as part of the Vision Dolpo Winter Program, preparing in a more supportive and resourceful learning environment. Their dedication, discipline, and willingness to adapt reflect not only their personal commitment to education but also a shared vision of creating meaningful opportunities for children from one of Nepal’s most geographically isolated regions.

After completing their SEE examinations, they will return to their villages to spend valuable time with their families before coming back to SLR in June/July to continue their higher secondary (+2) education in Kathmandu.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, resilience, and determination. As they take this important academic step, we extend our heartfelt best wishes for their success.

Students from Snow Leopard Residence (SLR) visited the sacred site of Namo Buddha, gaining insights into compassion and cultural heritage, and explored Apsara Bari to learn about organic farming and sustainable agriculture. The visit was a meaningful learning experience for both academic and personal growth. Sincere thanks to Kedar Binod Pandey for warmly hosting us at the inspiring Apsara Bari.
