We offer our heartfelt tributes and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul following the untimely passing of Architect Saroj Poudel, a member of the Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA) (Membership No. 1183), who left us at the tender age of 42 on 2083 Bhadra 11.
He was an alumnus of Pulchowk Campus, B.Arch Batch of 2061.
During this time of grief, we extend our deepest condolences and pray to the Almighty to grant the bereaved family the strength and patience to endure this profound loss.

Dear Valued SONA members,

Thank you so much for your valuable presence in today's 66th Architect Speaks session: Adaptive Reuse of Traditional Buildings. We are very grateful to our awesome speakers, Ar. Varun SJB Rana and Ar. Jharana Joshi for their very informative and insightful talks. A special thanks to our student volunteers for their efforts to make the program a success. We are also very thankful to JJ Marble, our event partner for today's session.

We are also obliged to our members for bringing the relief materials for the flood victims. They were thoroughly checked and packed. We will be handing them over tomorrow at the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) where National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) is taking the responsibility for the smooth coordination.

Dear Valued SONA members,

Thank you so much for the keen interest in the Universal Toilet Design Competition.

The total number of registrations for the competition is 73!!! It includes 23 A/E firms, 17 group of architects (Max. 3) and 33 individuals architects! That's quite a staggering number! We would like to wish best to all the participants!

This is also to inform you that within the first week of Flood Relief Campaign that we had announced, we have been able to collect Nrs. 5,00,000.00 (Five Lakh Nepalese Rupees) which has already been deposited in PM Disaster Relief Fund. Earlier, we had announced that all the registration fees from the Toilet design competition and the 36th SONA Day would be deposited in the PM fund.

Out of NRs. 5,00,000.00, Nrs. 1,13,000 (73 applicants) has been collected via Toilet Design Competition and Nrs. 3,87,000.00 (35 members) has been collected via SONA Day registration fees. We are very grateful to all our members that includes Past Presidents, senior architects and young architects for the generous donations. We are hopeful that the number would increase signifcantly before 36th SONA Day on 31st October, 2026.

The relief fund campaign will continue till 27th October, 2026, just before the 36th SONA Day on 31st October, 2026. So requesting our members to be the part of celebration with a very noble cause!

Dear Valued SONA members,

Today, Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) had called for an urgent interactive meeting with different organisations/institutions working on human settlements; Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA), UN-Habitat, Center for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD), The Regional and Urban Planner's Society of Nepal (RUPSON) to discuss about the action plans on transitional shelter for the flood victims. It was discussed that short term and long term action plans for the resettlement are very crucial at this moment. Land acquisition for the resettlement, user group inventory, types and designs of shelter cluster/units, material types and also the past experiences of 2015 Gorkha earthquake were shared among the participants.

SONA President Iswar Joshi clearly expressed that SONA is always ready to collaborate with the DUDBC to provide any kind of assistance in terms of expertise, documentation or design workforce required for the action plans.
