The Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa of the District Police Range Bhadrakali presented Certificates of Appreciation to Zonta Club Kathmandu, Zontian Bina Rana, President; and Zontian Neelima Shrestha, Chair of Advocacy Committee, in recognition of the organization’s valuable contribution to set up Reading Area at the Women Detention Center.

The Zonta Club Kathmandu was honored for supporting the establishment of reading area, donating books on law and literature, an initiative aimed at promoting literacy, positive thinking,and fostering a reading culture among women in custody.

The certificate highlights that this contribution supports the development of educational resources and encourages constructive engagement through reading within the facility.

Zonta Club Kathmandu Holds its Annual General Meeting and Welcomes New Leadership for Biennium 2026–2028

The Zonta Club Kathmandu successfully convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 31 May 2026, bringing together members to celebrate the achievements of the 2024–2026 biennium, welcome new members, and officially hand over leadership to a new Executive Board.

The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable work accomplished over the past two years in advancing Zonta’s mission of Building a Better World for Women and Girls. Committee reports highlighted the Club’s collective impact across service, advocacy, leadership development, scholarships, violence against women prevention, climate action, youth engagement, and public relations.

A special highlight of the evening was the induction of three new members, strengthening the Club’s growing network of women leaders and changemakers. The induction ceremony was conducted by Zontian Shreejana Rana, Member of the Zonta International Advocacy Committee and Immediate Past District Governor (District 25), who warmly welcomed the new members into the Zonta community.

Members expressed their sincere appreciation to outgoing President Zontian Bina Rana, whose leadership guided the Club through a highly successful biennium marked by meaningful programs, partnerships, and community engagement..

The Club also formally installed its new Executive Board for the 2026–2028 biennium, led by President Zontian Mridula Rajbhandari and Vice President Zontian Neelima Shrestha.
As the Club begins a new biennium, members remain united in their commitment to advancing gender equality, empowering women and girls, and continuing the legacy of service that defines Zonta.

Congratulations to the incoming President, Executive Board, Committee Chairs, and all members. Together, we look forward to another impactful biennium in the true Zonta spirit.

On Thursday, 28th May, the Board Members of Zonta Club Kathmandu along with Ztn, Hon MP Vidushi Rana, met with the Honorable Minister Sita Badi, Minister of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security.

She was felicitated during the meeting and briefed about Zonta, it’s mission and the various initiatives and work carried out by the Club. It was a productive and encouraging meeting, with the hope of opportunities to work together on a common purpose of building a better world for women and girls.

On May 25, 2026, the Advocacy Committee of the Zonta Club Kathmandu donated more than 200 books and reading materials to the Women’s Detention Center at the District Police Range Bhadrakali.

Club President Ztn. Bina Rana, Immediate Past President Ztn. Ava Shah, Vice President Ztn. Mridula Rajbhandari, Advocacy Committee Chair Ztn. Neelima Shrestha, and Co-Chair Ztn. Advocate Ratna Karki visited the facility and formally handed over the materials to SP Pawan Bhattarai and his team.

The club had previously established the Bhadrakali Reading Area in February 2025 with the aim of creating a space for learning, inspiration, and personal growth for women inmates. During the visit, the team shared positive feedback, noting that the reading area has been actively utilized as originally envisioned by the club.
