Youth Innovation Lab, as a part of TheYouthCAN.org, in collaboration with Mercy Corps, and Aasaman Nepal, organized a five-day residential training in Bardibas from 16 to 20 March 2025. The program brought together Climate Fellows and municipal officials from nine project municipalities, along with representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communication, and Law, Madhesh Province, to enhance their capacities in strengthening climate and disaster-related plans and policies.
The sessions featured participant-led technical training, GIS mapping exercises and discussions on integrating gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) into disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) strategies aiming to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to support data-driven decision-making, planning, and budgeting for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
The training concluded with a special session on Youth, DRR, and Climate Governance with Rosalba Tuseo from the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, who emphasized the importance of youth leadership in climate governance and disaster risk reduction and the program concluded with closing remarks from Pradip Khatiwada, Executive Director of YI-Lab.
