The primary objective of the concert is to provide a safe and comfortable platform for female artists. Each year, Women in Concert discovers new, local artists and bands from different parts of Nepal. In a particularly male-dominated music industry, female artists are often underrepresented and sometimes even discouraged from pursuing musical careers. Events such as Women in Concert help open door
s to opportunities for women that are usually reserved for men, such as sound engineers, technicians, managers and security. Under the guidance of Abhaya S***a, and a dedicated team comprising of both men and women, the participating artists will be able to perform in an environment that is free of exploitation and gender-based discrimination. The Women In Concert Foundation was legally registered as an NGO in Jan 2014. The Registration was a step ahead and a big leap for WICF to enable it to work as an organization on Women Rights issue which has always been its prime concern.
